Position Summary

The Benefits Consultant is responsible for helping the Business Consultants in developing the overall benefits strategy - which includes evaluating current offerings, evaluating and presenting proposed options, developing / updating contributions models, finalizing benefits options, and negotiating final rates for all Master Plan Benefits programs. The Benefits Consultant is also responsible for effective and efficient management of their assigned territory, as well as assisting on a national level as needed. The Benefits Consultant is the Benefits expert for their assigned sales region and is required to maintain an active Group Life & Health Insurance License with each of their assigned states. The Benefits Consultant also work outside of their assigned sales region from time to time as needed

  • Open Market Offerings & carriers (for comparison purposes)
  • Medical Benefits
  • Ancillary Benefits
  • Voluntary Benefits
  • Benefit Implementation Rules & Timelines
  • Contribution Modeling - Underwriting Rules & Guidelines
  • Travel as needed

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Cont.)

  • Effective development / utilization:
  • Communicate & Present Benefits Program
  • Negotiate & finalize Benefits offering
  • Management of their assigned territory
  • Develop Strong relationships with the Benefits Consultants

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of insurance experience preferred
  • Effective Presentation Skills
  • Excellent Communicator, both verbal and written, with internal departments and external clients
  • Effective Time Management skills
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be self-driven / motivated
  • The ability to
  • Prioritize & complete multiple tasks while delivering successful results (wins)
  • Articulate and impart his/her knowledge within an assigned sales region
  • Develop strong working relationships

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's level degree required
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years experience in field
  • Active Broker's Group Life & Health License required
