This opportunity is designed for an experienced employee benefits professional who enjoys building strong client relationships, solving complex benefits challenges, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients.
The Benefits Account Manager is responsible for managing and servicing an established book of employee benefits clients. This individual works closely with clients, producers, insurance carriers, vendors, and internal team members to ensure benefit programs are effectively designed, implemented, communicated, and maintained.
Job Description:
Manage the employee benefits needs of clients for a well-established independent insurance agency by performing the following tasks:
- Manage and service an established book of employee benefits clients while developing strong, long-term client relationships.
- Provide proactive day-to-day client service by anticipating client needs and responding to questions, concerns, and service issues in a timely manner.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing guidance on employee benefit strategies, plan design, renewals, and benefit program administration.
- Manage the employee benefits renewal process, including reviewing plan performance, evaluating options, coordinating with carriers and vendors, and preparing recommendations for clients.
- Review benefit plan data, claims information, utilization trends, underwriting information, and other relevant analytics to help clients make informed benefit decisions.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers and benefit vendors to obtain quotes, resolve issues, negotiate solutions, and ensure client needs are effectively communicated.
- Prepare and present benefit plan recommendations, renewal proposals, and other client-facing materials.
- Lead client meetings and employee open enrollment presentations, clearly communicating benefit options and helping employees understand their plans.
- Assist clients and employees with claims, eligibility, enrollment, billing, and other plan administration issues, coordinating with carriers and vendors to reach timely resolutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve plan performance, strengthen benefit offerings, and deepen client relationships.
- Provide clients with guidance regarding applicable employee benefits compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely client and account information within the agency management system.
- Collaborate closely with producers and internal team members to provide a consistent and high-quality client experience.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met and comply with all internal policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional employee benefits experience preferred.
- Experience managing employee benefits clients, client relationships, or an account portfolio.
- Strong knowledge of group health and welfare benefit plans.
- Experience working with insurance carriers and employee benefit vendors.
- Experience with employee benefits renewals, plan design, and open enrollment.
- Experience with benefits analytics, underwriting, claims data, or financial modeling preferred.
- Life & Health Insurance License required.
- EPIC experience preferred.
- Navigator experience preferred.

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve claims, carrier, enrollment, billing, and plan administration issues.
- Strong attention to detail and effective follow-up skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with producers, carriers, vendors, and internal team members.
- Must be highly proficient in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows-based environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Experience with Adobe tools, Navigator, and EPIC preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a team-oriented self-starter in a client-facing environment.
