BI Analyst
Summary
Analyze data to support business areas in decision-making and operational management, creating reports and dashboards using Power BI for Woolworths Financial Services in Cape Town, South Africa.
Main Purpose
To leverage data effectively to support business areas in decision-making and operational management
while delivering meaningful and valuable insights to aid in the strategic delivery of Woolworths Financial Services. To ensure timely and precise generation of both standard
and on-demand reports and dashboards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain analytical tools and dashboards using Power BI to visualise and report business metrics and continuously upkeep and distribute data visualisations, prototypes of reports, and data-driven analyses and insights.
- Extract, load, and transform data from various databases and data warehousing systems using SQL to ensure data is accessible and reliable.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and present results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Monitor analytics and metrics results, perform root cause analysis on data anomalies.
- Converting business requirements into technical specifications and documenting them accordingly.
- Establish suitable and impactful business relationships while engaging with key stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends and developments in BI technology and practices, adopting best practices wherever
possible.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- Matric/Grade 12 with mathematics.
- Degree / Diploma in Finance, Business,
Information Systems, Statistics,
or data related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 2-5 years’ experience within Banking, Financial services, or retail industry as a BI/Data analyst
- Practical expertise in analytics, data visualisation, or reporting functions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Power BI for creating dashboards, reports, dataflows etc.
- Strong experience with SQL and relational databases, including advanced queries and stored procedures.
- Working knowledge of Data Management.
- Ability to work with various data sources and data tables.
