Billing Analyst I, Full-Time Days

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Billing Analyst in the Pharmacy Department.

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, Accreditation and Quality, this position develops, implements, and conducts quality initiatives to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, manufacturer program requirements, payer contractual obligations, and organizational policies.

Essential Job Functions

  • Submit required reports to support Risk Evaluation Strategies (REMS), manufacturer programs, accreditation organizations, and pater contractual obligations.

  • Support internal and external surveys, inspections, and audits, including accreditation, payer, manufacturer, and REMS audits.

  • Assist with 3rd party chargeback activities, collections and auditing, including claim reversals and corrective action follow-up.

  • Create, maintain, and audit personnel files to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Conduct patient chart audits to verify compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate medication distribution packaging validation activities, including but not limited to staff training, packaging audits, and temperature testing to ensure product integrity during transport.

  • Develop, review, and maintain marketing materials to ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.

  • Monitor and audit completion of required employee training, including Corporate Compliance, HIPAA, and other mandatory education.

  • Collect, analyze, trend, and document quality and operational performance metrics, including call metrics, medication events, complaints, and other metrics.

  • Participate in other quality improvement initiatives and compliance, patient safety, and regulatory projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience with pharmacy or hospital billing operations

  • Proven working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding systems required -- certification required within twelve months of job hire: CPC, RHIT, RHIA or any combination.

  • Successful completion of medical terminology class.

  • Familiarity with large healthcare information systems (past experience with IDX, OACIS, EPIC and/or Last Word preferred).

  • Experience in PC based spreadsheets and word processing.

  • Must be analytical and have excellent written and verbal communications.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing interpersonal relationships and in handling multiple priorities effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current or Eligibility for Illinois Pharmacy Technician Licensure

In this role, we anticipate that you will be scheduled to work 8-hour shifts, day shift approximately between the hours of 9am-5:30pm and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work a remote-hybrid schedule. The days of the week that you are scheduled will be Monday-Friday, and no weekends. This is subject to change.
