SUMMARY
The BIM Coordinator performs complex and significant project-related tasks. They provide various Revit drafting functions for Engineering & Design staff made up of but not limited to Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) Engineers, this individual works with the staff of all disciplines to standardize BIM software across the organization and is responsible for establishing, monitoring and enforcing BIM standards.

We are seeking a BIM Coordinator to join our Aviation team in Washington, D.C.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assigned and supports a project during design, construction and to project close-out (dedicated to one large project or many smaller projects, based on workload).
  • Responsible for project planning, scheduling, staffing, training, project setup and management.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for BIM technology and any related issues between the Construction Team, subcontractors, the owner, the Design Team, and others as required.
  • Responsible for set up the project specific construction standard content in the templates, once it is set by the project team.
  • Manage file sharing with other disciplines for design and coordination processes. (Arch, GC, EE, EC, FP).
  • Coordinates the set-up of shared file server with the BIM Team and IT staff, this includes access and security.
  • Coordinates BIM development, standards, data requirements, etc. as required by company standards and project requirements.
  • Overall responsibility for the development of the design/coordination BIM model and BIM modeling guidelines.
  • Responsible for the development, coordination, publication, and verification that all necessary configurations required for seamless integration of design and construction information have been implemented.
  • Insures construction documents derived from the BIM model adhere to company standards and project requirements.
  • Assures that the final design deliverables specified in the contract are provided in accordance with the formats specified.
  • Coordinates BIM file exchange and archiving of milestone submittals.
  • Manages the "I" in BIM for overall process.
  • Set up and clean of up backgrounds from outside sources.
  • Perform periodic model reviews for compliance
  • Coordinate and trouble-shoot technical items with clients, consultants, and other departments such as field personnel, purchasing, and fabrication
  • Keep a pulse on industry technological advancements such as, but not limited to; A360 tools and services like Collaboration for Revit & BIM 360 Glue, third-party add-ins, Dynamo scripting, and construction layout technologies like TOPCON and Trimble
  • Responsible for design, coordination, & construction deliverables (plotting) in addition to QA/QC of plotting standards i.e. line weights, layers, presentation, etc.

Software

  • Assists in the selection and installation of BIM related software programs and technologies by making programming adjustments as needed to fit company needs.
  • Ensures proper procedures for log-on, documentation and backup on all projects is executed on a regular basis
  • Documents and communicates operating procedures and policies for specific applications and for on-going housekeeping activities required by users
  • Maintains and creates Revit families, templet files and content to assure company standards.
  • Develops automation software to improve drawing quality and consistency
  • Manage the implementation of supporting software for BIM
  • Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit and other BIM related software (third party) and how they work with Revit.
  • Installation and support of related modeling software after coordinating with IT Standards
  • Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement
  • Creation and maintenance of Revit template files and content (family) creation to assure standards
  • Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions
  • Assist in developing and enforcing documentation and workflow process standards

Troubleshooting

  • Provides trouble shooting of all Revit, BIM and associated software.
  • Works jointly with IT Manager to resolve issues
  • Develops and implements productivity, capability and quality enhancements
  • Provides QA/QC of drawing quality adherence to company and client standards, and overall output quality.

Training

  • Provide training and oversight to all CAD operators as it pertains to BIM/Revit on a particular team.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies, standards and procedures as well as client standards

Identify Technology

  • Attends seminars, studies, reads literature to remain current with new hardware and software technologies
  • Runs BIM/Revit meetings for the staff assigned to BIM/Revit jobs to promote high level of skills among operators

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Thorough understanding of BIM processes and standards for engineering systems.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk products such as Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360).
  • Relevant experience working on building engineering systems with specific experience in modeling or drafting of MEPF + Low Voltage systems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variable.
