BIM Document Controller
Summary
Manages BIM project documentation, version control, and workflows to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely delivery of technical deliverables like models, drawings, and reports for AEC projects.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented BIM
Document Controller to support the management of project information and
documentation across BIM projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on
experience in maintaining technical documentation, coordinating project
information workflows, and ensuring compliance with project standards, client
requirements, and BIM execution processes.
The role will work closely with BIM Managers, BIM
Coordinators, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure
that all project information is properly controlled, tracked, and delivered
throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage
and control BIM project documentation, including models, drawings,
reports, transmittals, RFIs, and technical deliverables.
- Maintain
project document registers and ensure accurate tracking of submissions,
revisions, approvals, and distribution.
- Implement
and manage document control procedures in accordance with project
requirements and BIM workflows.
- Ensure
consistency, accuracy, and compliance of project information with client
standards, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), and organizational quality
procedures.
- Coordinate
with BIM teams, design disciplines, project stakeholders, and clients for
timely submission and retrieval of project documentation.
- Monitor
document review and approval workflows and follow up on pending actions.
- Manage
version control and ensure that only approved and current documents are
available for project use.
- Support
Common Data Environment (CDE) processes and information exchange
protocols.
- Archive
and maintain project records in accordance with company and client
retention policies.
- Prepare
periodic reports on document status, submissions, approvals, and project
information management activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Document Controller within CAD, BIM,
Architecture, Engineering, or Construction projects.
- Strong
understanding of BIM project documentation and information management
processes.
- Experience
working with Document Management Systems (DMS) and Common Data
Environments (CDE).
- Good
knowledge of document numbering systems, revision management, version
control, and quality assurance procedures.
- Familiarity
with BIM standards, project coordination processes, and multidisciplinary
project environments.
- Proficiency
in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong
communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Ability
to manage multiple projects and deadlines with high attention to detail.
