BIM Lead - MEP
WSP is seeking a BIM Lead – MEP to play a key role in delivering complex multi-disciplinary project delivery, from concept stage through to detailed design. The role will focus on establishing and implementing BIM best practices and BIM leadership through design production, coordination and delivery across multiple discipline teams. Accountability of the role includes operational performance management, technical and people leadership and project delivery leadership for their team. The role holder must take a proactive ‘hands on’ approach to all aspects of the role.

Project and Technical Delivery
Lead the digital production of coordinated designs through all design stages
Take a strategic lead role on large multidisciplinary projects as well as providing bespoke design solutions to niche and architectural led concept designs and other design stages.
Define and implement project BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and information management strategies aligned with ISO 19650 and client requirements
Manage design interfaces across multidisciplinary project teams
Support the development and delivery of training and awareness sessions
Continual and early communication of progress and issues with wider project team
Familiarisation with project relevant standards (ISO, etc)
Own and effectively manage scope delivery to budget and programme
Form strong working relationships with other WSP disciplines, external design consultants, stakeholders and clients
Support production of proposals and project mobilisation and delivery strategies
Provide leadership and guidance in the successful delivery of projects, ensuring client satisfaction
Undertake management reporting and communicate to own team, project teams and leadership teams
Manage project risk

Develop capability and grow BIM team to suit business and project needs, maintaining a delivery focused environment
Input into the recruitment and selection process
Manage resources to ensure the right resources are utilised effectively at the right time across their team and projects

Key Competencies / Skills
Strong experience working on metro schemes and station design
A proven track record of successful design delivery, in particular taking designs from concept/preliminary stage to tender/reference design, to support Clients’ procurement of Contractors
The ability to make a difference, pro-actively manage requirements and risks and influence others to deliver successfully
Excellent inter-personal skills, with good leadership capable of communicating effectively with other members of the project team, stakeholders & Clients
Preferred Chartered status with a relevant globally recognised professional institution
Significant experience of team management responsibilities including line management and day-to-day operations
Experience of operating as a lead client contact for consultancy services and the fostering of excellent relationships with Clients and co-professionals
Technical Experience (e.g. Areas, Software)
Extensive international experience in leading, producing, checking and coordinating multidisciplinary designs through the entire design and construction cycle for projects
Ability to lead teams to produce high quality coordinated design solutions
Technical Focus on the delivery of the models and drawings to the required regulations and quality standards
Provide technical solutions on projects
Good knowledge of H&S legislation, Safe by Design principles and Railway safety
Initiate and participate in design peer reviews in alignment with the QMS system
Keep up to date with industry developments with respect to own discipline and understand and appreciate the basic technical principles and drivers of other disciplines
A strong fundamental understanding of all aspects of BIM (CDE, workflows, clash detection, quality assurance, templates, libraries, tools, etc)
Check and review the Bim Execution Plan and other Information Management documents and requirements
Develop and implement project processes (e.g. clash detection, model federation, etc)
Develop and update guidance documents
Providing and managing access to project information using various collaborative software systems that would form a project Common Data Environment (CDE). These systems would typically be ACC/ProjectWise, iTwin, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
Coordinate information sharing
Manage and update Federated Models to support multi-disciplinary reviews and presentation of design solutions
Lead coordination meetings
Facilitate design model reviews and final presentation of completed designs
Undertake CAD quality assurance checks
ACC/ProjectWise Workflow support to discipline teams during submissions, including checking file attribution / CDE metadata
Experienced in discipline and industry specific software (Autodesk REVIT, Bentley applications including OpenBuildings Designer and iTwin, AutoDesk applications, etc)
Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology.
