BIM Manager
1 – Mission
The BIM Manager is responsible for leading and managing the planning and execution of assigned BIM projects profitably, ensuring delivery in line with allocated time, resources, budget, and compliance. He/She ensures that BIM processes and outputs comply with UAE codes, IATA and ICAO standards, and client contract requirements.
The BIM manager ensures the implementation of tools that would allow the teams to work with the numerical mockup (environments, plugins, libraries, families…) with the objective of ensuring production homogeneity.
2 – Line & Staff Relations
The BIM Manager reports directly to the Head of Practice, Building and coordinates with:
- BIM Engineers, Architects, and all technical resources assigned to BIM projects.
- Local and regional staff across disciplines and international Artelia entities as required.
- External consultants, contractors, sub-consultants, and statutory authorities (Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, GCAA, Abu Dhabi DMT, etc.).
3 – Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation & Delivery
- Lead project setup: central files, templates, linked models, and coordinate environment.
- Prepare and maintain the BIM Project Handbook for distribution to stakeholders.
- Own the planning, execution, and delivery of BIM projects, including mega projects.
- Ensure all BIM deliverables are aligned with UAE authority submissions and IATA/ICAO aviation design standards.
- Manage clash detection and model validation sessions with consultants and contractors.
Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise and mentor BIM Engineers, Architects, and junior BIM staff.
- Provide training and coaching on BIM standards, QA/QC, and best practices.
- Lead BIM automation, plugin development, and adoption of new digital technologies.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to align resources, timelines, and profitability goals.
Innovation & Quality Management
- Update and enforce BIM standards, manuals, and execution plans (BEP).
- Develop and implement BIM Quality Management Systems and monitor KPIs (e.g., 0% rework target due to drafting issues).
- Promote and develop automation tools for generative design and optimization.
- Contribute to the deployment of digital twin frameworks for construction and asset management.
- Report regularly to Head of Practice and Director of Production on BIM performance and improvements.
4 – Profile Specifications – Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Architecture or Engineering.
- 10+ years’ BIM & CAD project and management experience.
- Proven track record on at least three mega-projects (design coordination in BIM).
Knowledge
- UAE codes and authority requirements (Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, GCAA, etc.).
- IATA ADRM and ICAO Annexes for aviation infrastructure.
- Construction methods, systems, and terminology for multidisciplinary projects.
Software Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Tekla, MicroStation.
- Knowledge of Dynamo for Revit, Grasshopper, Rhino, and scripting for automation.
- AI-driven design and optimization platforms: Autodesk Forma, Spacemaker, TestFit, ArchiGAN.
- Familiarity with digital twin platforms for integration with asset management systems.
- Knowledge of Python and other coding languages is mandatory.
