BIM Manager
Job Description
The BIM Manager is responsible for leading and managing the implementation, coordination, and delivery of Building Information Modeling (BIM) across projects. This role oversees BIM standards, processes, models, and coordination activities to ensure accurate and efficient project delivery. The BIM Manager works closely with project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that BIM models and documentation comply with project requirements, specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
BIM Management and Coordination
- Lead and manage BIM implementation across projects, ensuring compliance with project BIM requirements and company standards.
- Establish and maintain BIM workflows, processes, standards, and protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee the development, updating, and maintenance of BIM models to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Coordinate BIM activities across multiple disciplines, including ACMV, electrical, architectural, structural, and other building services.
BIM Model Development and Quality Control
- Review and manage BIM models developed by BIM Modelers and other project team members.
- Ensure models are accurate, properly coordinated, and aligned with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Conduct regular model audits and quality checks to identify and resolve modelling issues.
- Ensure BIM models are maintained and updated according to project changes and site conditions.
Clash Detection and Coordination
- Lead BIM coordination and clash detection activities using appropriate BIM software.
- Identify, review, and resolve clashes between different disciplines in collaboration with engineers and project teams.
- Conduct coordination meetings and follow up on outstanding clashes and technical issues.
- Ensure coordinated models are issued within the required project timelines.
Drawings and Documentation
- Oversee the preparation and production of construction, coordination, shop, and as-built drawings using BIM software such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- Ensure drawings and BIM documentation meet project standards and submission requirements.
- Review and approve BIM-related drawings and documentation before submission or issue.
- Maintain proper records of BIM models, drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
Project Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, consultants, architects, and contractors to ensure effective BIM coordination.
- Provide technical BIM support and guidance to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend project coordination meetings and provide BIM-related input on design, constructability, and coordination matters.
- Assist project teams in resolving BIM and technical coordination issues.
BIM Team Management
- Supervise, guide, and develop BIM Modelers and other BIM personnel.
- Allocate BIM modelling and coordination tasks according to project requirements and priorities.
- Monitor the team's work progress, quality, and adherence to project schedules.
- Provide training and technical guidance to improve the team's BIM capabilities and productivity.
BIM Standards and Technology
- Develop and maintain BIM standards, templates, libraries, and workflows for the company.
- Ensure consistent use of BIM software, modelling standards, naming conventions, and documentation procedures.
- Keep updated with the latest BIM technologies, software, and industry practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency through BIM automation, digital coordination, and technology adoption.
Material Quantities and Project Support
- Support project teams in extracting material quantities and information from BIM models where required.
- Assist in generating schedules, material lists, and other project information from BIM models.
- Provide BIM-related information to support procurement, construction planning, and project management activities.
Site and Construction Support
- Support site teams by providing updated BIM models and coordinated drawings for construction activities.
- Review site feedback and ensure relevant changes are incorporated into BIM models.
- Assist in maintaining accurate as-built BIM models based on completed works and approved site changes.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant BIM working experience, with at least 2 years in a BIM coordination or management role.
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Services, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other relevant BIM tools.
- Strong knowledge of BIM processes, standards, workflows, and coordination procedures.
- Good understanding of construction processes, M&E works, and project management.
- Proven experience in BIM coordination, clash detection, model review, and quality control.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to lead and manage BIM Modelers and coordinate BIM activities across multiple projects.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve BIM and coordination issues.
- Familiarity with BIM standards, modelling requirements, naming conventions, and documentation procedures.
- Able to work independently and productively with minimal supervision.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
