BIM Technician (Civil)
WSP is currently seeking a passionate BIM Technician with a strong background to join our Water & Wastewater team in Bengaluru. This position will be responsible for developing BIM models for Conveyance System Design, Corridor development, Civil Design including grading, dry and wet utilities modelling, clash detection, etc. in Water & Wastewater conveyance projects. The role involves working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects to international standards.
The ideal candidate should also have familiarity and understanding of other disciplines and how they relate to one another in a multidisciplinary project. The candidate will be required to manage projects and should be able to work and communicate effectively with teams in Canada, senior management, peers and team members.
Successful candidate will be a dynamic, self-motivated individual who will work in a team of engineers and modellers in engineering delivery with focus on technical compliance and adherence to quality. The role requires working on several projects and tasks related to ongoing projects. Extensive coordination with teams in Canada is a must. Candidate should have a clear and demonstrable technical understanding of standards and norms pertaining to Canada Water Industry.
- Work under the direction of the BIM Lead, Design lead and Project Managers to develop construction document packages in Civil 3D, MicroStation & CAD
- You will apply Civil 3D knowledge on water and wastewater projects including but not limited to preparation of Civil3D surface from survey data, create alignments, plan & profiles, sections & details, assemblies & sub-assemblies, corridors and pipe networks.
- You will prepare Site Servicing, Grading Plans and Profiles for conveyance projects and treatment plants in Civil3D adhering to company BIM/CAD standards.
- You will manage design tasks and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- You will also do Cut/fill volumes and materials calculations for cost estimates.
- You will coordinate BIM processes and work closely with project teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- You will contribute to project milestones, ensuring designs meet quality standards and client expectations.
- Be aware of check/review process and verify project deliverables for compliance to specifications/requirements in terms of completeness, accuracy and quality.
- Work in a diverse environment and be able to demonstrate best practice in project delivery; be familiar with relevant international standards/guidelines.
- Comply with BEP for the projects and established workflow methodologies for effective delivery of work from GCC.
- Collaborate with lead region (Canada), participate in the meetings, adhere to the hybrid work policy of the company and lead by example for the entire team.
- Contribute to Digital innovation through automation, virtual reality, etc. as per Client’s expectations.
Key Competencies / Skills:
- Mandatory Skills
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology / Water Resource Engineering.
- 3/7 years of experience in delivering Civil projects, on schedule and on budget. Experience on Canada projects/standards is an advantage.
- Fully conversant with Civil3D / MicroStation and knowledge of BIM.
- Experience with GIS is required.
- Expertise in Water wastewater infrastructure design
Desired Skills
- Working knowledge of InfraWorks, or Revit is a valuable asset.
