Biomedical Engineer

Overview of the Role:

To assist the Manager in performing planned preventive maintenance of medical equipment / inspection, commissioning of newly purchased or Loan medical equipment, to assist in technical evaluation of new equipment with vendor and user and carry out Repair and Maintenance (R&M) on biomedical equipment.

Work Location: Mount Elizabeth Hospital

Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Preventive Maintenance: Completion of assigned Planned Preventive Maintenance workorders (both In-house and outsourced to equipment vendor) on schedule within the month. To update and close the work orders on time and upload the checklist in equipment database for the assigned work order.
  • Repair and Maintenance: To respond timely for R&M work request by user, attend to job, follow up with Vendor and update user on status of the job till completion of the job.
  • Commissioning: To commission newly purchased medical equipment jointly with equipment Vendor and also to commission loan equipment and upkeep of records.
  • Assist hospital and BME Manager in assigned project work for co-ordination, supervising vendor and completion within schedule.
  • Assist the Manager during regulatory audits such as MOH in retrieval of equipment maintenance records.
  • Ensure test equipment used are calibrated.
  • Assist user in condemnation of equipment and disposal.
  • Other ad hoc duties assigned

Requirements:

  • Degree in Bio-medical Engineering from local university or recognized equivalent qualification with one year of relevant work experience
  • Three-year Polytechnic Diploma in Bio-medical Engineering or equivalent from local polytechnic with minimum 5 years of relevant work experience or
  • Certificate or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering from a recognized Tertiary institution such as ITE's with minimum 10 years’ hospital experience or with medical equipment vendor, preferably with biomedical engineering knowledge.
  • Staff shall have necessary safety related knowledge to Bio-medical equipment.
  • Staff with Hospital experience in BME or with medical device vendor in maintenance of medical equipment is highly desirable.

Working Hours:

  • Mon - Thurs: 8:30am to 6:00PM, Friday: 8.30am to 5.30pm
  • 5-day work weeks, 42 hours maximum
