Position Opportunity

The Blow Mold Department Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of HDPE blow molding across multiple manufacturing plants. This role combines operational leadership with hands-on technical expertise to manage people, processes, and performance.

The Blow Mold Department Manager owns labor planning, scheduling, and departmental KPIs while driving process stability, continuous improvement, workforce development, and operational excellence across a 24x6 manufacturing environment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Operations & People Leadership

  • Own daily HDPE blow molding operations across multiple manufacturing plants operating in a 24x6 production environment.
  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of up to 25 machine operators, helpers, and technicians.
  • Develop and manage labor schedules, staffing plans, and department coverage to meet production demands.
  • Ensure consistent execution of safety procedures, standard work, and operating practices.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management of department personnel.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point during off-hours through on-call support.

Technical & Process Leadership

  • Provide technical oversight of HDPE blow molding processes, including machine setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Drive process stability, repeatability, and continuous improvement across multiple production lines and facilities.
  • Partner with Engineering and Maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing capability.
  • Ensure operators complete assigned preventive maintenance activities while coordinating corrective and planned maintenance with Maintenance.
  • Support equipment upgrades, tooling improvements, automation projects, and capital investments related to blow molding operations.

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Own departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including:
    • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
    • Equipment uptime
    • Scrap reduction
    • Throughput
    • Labor efficiency
  • Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives that reduce downtime, minimize scrap, improve safety, and increase productivity.
  • Communicate operational performance, action plans, and improvement initiatives to leadership and cross-functional partners.
