The Island Boarding Campus is seeking a unique, high-energy individual to fill a dual-focus role: managing the vibrant daily life of our international boarders and serving as our lead Explorer & Cultural Ambassador. This position splits your time between structured, supportive pastoral care as a House Parent Assistant within the boarding house and leading unforgettable weekend excursions and cultural trips that explore the history, heritage, and traditions of
Cyprus. You will be the bridge that connects international students to the history, traditions, and hidden gems of our island, while ensuring they feel safe, supported, and at home during their studies

The role involves pastoral care and close collaboration with the team at The Island Boarding Campus.

The successful candidate will have a deep interest in Cypriot culture and a passion for running and supervising cultural events.

Key Duties & Responsibilities


Boarding House Operations & Youth Care


  • Daily Routine Management: Supervise wake-ups, meals, evening study sessions, roll calls, and lights-out to maintain structure.
  • Pastoral & Medical Support: Monitor student welfare, hygiene, and room tidiness while liaising with school nurses, psychologists, and house parents.
  • Campus Life Enrichment: Support student participation in sports, evening clubs, fitness routines, and community-building activities.
  • Administration & Safety: Manage boarding logistics like dorm allocations, travel permissions (exeats), fire drills, and data logging using the Reach system.


Cultural Excursion Planning & Leadership


  • Trip Design & Execution: Create and implement a yearly schedule of day trips and overnight excursions to historical sites, traditional villages, museums, and natural landmarks across Cyprus.
  • Logistics & Compliance: Manage transport, permissions, student-to-staff ratios, safeguarding procedures, and parent communication.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage trip budgets and coordinate schedules with the boarding management team to align with academic calendars.
  • Evaluation: Collect feedback from boarders after trips to continuously improve future excursions.

Cultural Education & Community Engagement


  • Cultural Storytelling: Act as a guide during trips and host evening storytelling sessions to share local history, mythologies, and traditions.
  • On-Campus Events: Organize vibrant cultural initiatives, including traditional Cypriot food tastings, music/dance workshops, and heritage days.
  • External Collaboration: Partner with local guides, historians, and cultural organizations to enrich the student experience and help international boarders connect with Cypriot culture.

Essential Qualifications & Experience


  • Education & Background: Higher education degree preferred, ideally in Physical Education, Sports Coaching, Education, or Youth Development.
  • Youth Experience: Proven experience working with children in residential settings, boarding campuses, sports clubs, summer camps, or schools.
  • Island Knowledge: Deep, authentic knowledge of Cyprus' geography, history, and traditions, with a genuine passion for storytelling.
  • Safety & Safeguarding: Strong understanding of risk assessments for trips; First Aid qualification is highly desirable (training will be provided).
  • Language & Tech: Fluency in English (the primary campus language) is required; native or professional proficiency in Greek is a major asset for local vendor coordination. Proficient in Google Workspace and basic IT systems.
  • Genuine passion for running and supervising cultural events.
  • Proven experience supervising trips or excursions for children or young
  • Clean Driving Licence


Additional Responsibilities

  • Work according to the duty rota on Sundays, including public holidays.
  • Report any safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately to the Designated
    Safeguarding Lead.
  • Encourage boarders to use English as the primary language during trips and events.
  • Participate in boarding staff training and house team meetings.
  • Assist with activity planning using the Reach system.


Bonus Skills/Experience

  • Other languages like Greek, Russian, Ukrainian or Hebrew

This is a dynamic, shift-based position totaling approximately 20 hours per week, offering an incredible work-life balance with 2 consecutive days completely off.
