CAREER OPPORTUNITY – BOOKKEEPER
Our client, the Update Group, a multidisciplinary building services contractor delivering complex projects across Ireland, the UK and the Caribbean, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join their Barbados office. The Update Group’s expertise covers the entire range of building services engineering.
THE ROLE
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for:
- Processing and entering supplier invoices, customer invoices and payroll journal entries.
- Managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment and collection.
- Ensuring timely submission and accurate filing of statutory returns, e.g. VAT, PAYE, NIS and Corporation Tax.
- Performing bank reconciliations.
- Maintaining day-to-day financial records and bookkeeping.
- Monitoring and reporting on budget verses actual project costs.
- Managing detailed project cost sheets for ongoing construction projects.
- Assisting with quarterly and year-end financial reporting.
- Supporting the preparation of financial documentation for tenders and client reporting.
- Supporting the finance department as required.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate should:
- Have a minimum of 2-3 years’ work experience in a similar role. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting would be an asset.
- Have the ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines/projects.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and organisational skills.
- Have proficiency using SAGE software.
- Have working knowledge in Microsoft Office, with intermediate level experience in Microsoft Excel.
