Branch Manager
Job Description
Reports to: Regional Manager
SUMMARY
The Branch Manager’s position is mainly a leadership
role. The candidate will head the Branch
team. As such She/He supervises all the
operations of the Branch in line with the institutional policies and
procedures. She/He will plan, coordinate
and manage the business growth and development of savings of the Branch by
supervising and monitoring performance of staff in line with the strategic
plan.
Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Managing Branch staff
i) Reviewing
staff performance and recommending to the Regional Manager on measures to
improve performance.
ii) Planning
and ensuring that the branch office has a sufficient number of staff and planning
staff leave to meet branch operations and efficiency.
iii) Boosting branch staff morale
through counseling and creating a good work environment as well as monitoring
staff discipline.
iv) Coaching and mentoring staff to
achieve required performance levels.
2. Customer Service
i) Ensuring
that the process of customer acquisition and service delivery across all
branches and other service points is anchored on delivering a consistently
superior customer experience.
ii) Strategizing and planning to
deliver operational service excellence and ensure that the operational
workforce is capable, enabled and inspired to deliver on FINCA’s brand promise,
for improved customer acquisition, retention and loyalty.
iii) Ensure good customer service by
identifying, assessing, monitoring and responding to customer concerns through
use of the Standard customer care survey tools.
iv) Planning, monitoring and
implementing the disbursement processes as per set disbursement standards
mainly focusing on quick service delivery and efficiency.
3. Developing
and supervising implementation of strategies to grow savings products and
quality loan portfolios for the branch.
i) Planning and monitoring loans
portfolio growth and outreach
iii) Reviewing
performance of all products and formulate improvement strategies
iv) Soliciting
business and attending to key company customers in order to grow the business.
4. Branch
administration
i) Ensuring
the security of the Branch premises and equipment.
ii) Keeping
branch premises and assets by carrying out timely repairs maintenance of
equipment and buildings
iii) Maintaining
an Asset register.
iv) Identifying
fixed asset needs and make requisition to the Senior Administrative Officer.
5. Budgeting and control of branch
budget
i) Preparing
branch budget.
ii) Approving branch expenses within
limits and reviewing branch expense reports to control operating and
non-operating expenses.
iii) Monitoring
budget performance and explaining variances to the Finance and Administrative
Manager.
iv) Preparing annual work plans reviewed
semi-annually with the Regional Manager.
6. Liquidity
Management.
i) Planning
and monitoring daily cash requirements of the branch.
ii) Maintaining
branch cash insurance limits.
7. Branch
compliance of all policies and procedures.
i) Reviewing
the branch transactions on a daily basis to validate them and ensure compliance
with operating guidelines.
ii) Training
staff in policies and procedures.
iii) Monitoring staff adherence to all
FINCA policies and procedures.
iv) Reviewing the company policies and
procedures and advising management on the need to amend the policies and
procedures for efficient performance.
v) Liaising
with the internal audit department to facilitate regular audits of the branch
office, respond to audit reports, and implement audit recommendations.
8. Branch
relationships
i) Representing the company in key public events to raise the profile within
the community.
ii) Maintaining
relations with other Financial Institutions.
9. Branch
reporting.
i) Reviewing
and submitting daily, weekly and monthly reports

Qualifications and Experience
1. A
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, and Business Administration or any
other business related course.
2. 4 year’s work experience in a
recognized Microfinance Deposit Taking Institution or Commercial Bank.
3. At
least one year’s experience at the manager level, or other acceptable
supervisory capacity (such as Credit Supervisor, or Accountant).
