Branch Manager
The Detroit Lakes Branch Manager is responsible for the overall performance, safety, and customer satisfaction of the Detroit Lakes branch. This role leads day-to-day operations including warehouse, delivery drivers, counter sales, and facility oversight while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations (OSHA, DOT).
The Branch Manager is a hands-on leader who drives profitable growth, maintains strong customer relationships, develops employees, and ensures a safe, efficient, and well-organized operation tailored to the needs of the local market.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
• Oversee all branch operations, including warehouse management, delivery operations, counter sales, and facility maintenance.
• Ensure inventory accuracy, efficient warehouse layout, and effective product flow to support customer demand.
• Identify operational issues, trends, and opportunities; take timely and practical corrective action.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Manage branch expenses and resources in a cost-effective manner.
Team Leadership & Development
• Hire, onboard, train, and retain branch employees.
• Delegate responsibility appropriately while remaining engaged in day-to-day operations.
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular feedback and performance management.
• Partner with Learning & Development to ensure required training is completed and maintained.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and customer-focused team culture.
Customer Service & Relationships
• Maintain strong relationships with customers by ensuring prompt, accurate, and professional service.
• Address customer concerns and issues promptly and professionally.
• Support sales efforts by ensuring the branch is staffed, stocked, and organized to meet customer needs.
• Represent the company professionally within the Detroit Lakes community.
Safety, Compliance & Security
• Maintain full compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety requirements.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and reinforce a culture of safety.
• Inspect equipment, vehicles, and work areas for safety risks.
• Take immediate corrective action on unsafe conditions or behaviors.
• Ensure security procedures are followed to protect employees, inventory, and company assets.
Communication & Planning
• Communicate effectively with employees, customers, and company leadership.
• Provide timely updates on operational issues, staffing needs, and branch performance.
• Plan staffing, schedules, and workloads to meet business demands without overtime risk when possible.
