Branch Manager

The Branch Manager serve as a leader by overseeing budget-planning, loan growth, and maximization of revenue. Typically the serve as a lender and Branch President, but may also be responsible for credit quality, collection functions, marketing efforts, supervising lenders and operation managers, managing a loan portfolio, reviewing loans, networking, calling potential customers and ensuring that the needs of the customers are met. Due to the high level of responsibility involved with being a bank manager, the need for strong communication, management, and leadership skills are of crucial importance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Develop, implement or adhere to branch business plans, budgets, and policies.
  • Represent the bank in a positive light at conferences, community events, and to the media.
  • Oversee sales operations, directing and managing the sales team to ensure goals are met, and identifying new sales opportunities.
  • Oversee lending staff and operations, adheres to loan policy and procedures set forth by the bank.
  • Organize internal bank structure, involved in staffing, and manage human resources strategies.
  • Review market conditions and internal sales reports, identifying problems and making necessary policy changes.
  • Gather pertinent information for loan application, interview applicant to determine loan requirements, and requests applicant credit reports, reference checks, and other information relevant to evaluating credit.
  • Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and asset evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan.
  • Compiles loan package and facilitates negotiation of loan structure with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms.
  • Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to establishment policy.
  • Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
  • Promotes and cross-sells other establishment products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities: May directly supervise employees, but is the overall supervisor of the entire branch team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
