Position Summary
The Branch Manager Trainee is a developmental role designed to prepare an individual for future branch management. Through hands-on training and assignments at multiple locations, the trainee will gain experience in operations, employee leadership, safety, customer service, inventory, financial management, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn. Previous experience in every area of cooperative operations is not required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete structured training in branch operations and management.
- Rotate among locations to learn different products, services, customers, and operational needs.
- Work with Branch Managers and company leaders to develop management skills.
- Gain knowledge of grain, agronomy, fertilizer, seed, chemicals, feed, fuel, propane, retail, and related operations.
- Assist with employee scheduling, onboarding, training, coaching, performance, and accountability.
- Promote workplace safety and assist with inspections, training, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Learn and follow applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, state, local, and industry requirements.
- Support customer service, sales, marketing, and business-development activities.
- Build positive relationships with customers, employees, vendors, producers, and community members.
- Learn inventory ordering, receiving, storage, reconciliation, and loss-prevention procedures.
- Develop an understanding of purchasing, billing, budgeting, expense control, financial reporting, and profitability.
- Help maintain company facilities, equipment, inventory, and other assets.
- Assist with resolving customer, staffing, equipment, and operational issues.
- Complete required reports and documentation accurately and on time.
- Travel between locations and accept temporary assignments as needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
