thl is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Branch Manager to lead our Christchurch Rental Operations branch. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for operational performance, people leadership, customer outcomes, health and safety, financial results and continuous improvement across a large, fast-paced rental operation.
About the Role:
Reporting to the National Operations Manager, this is a senior leadership position with full accountability for one of our largest and most complex operations. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team through experienced department managers and team leaders, driving exceptional performance across people, safety, customer experience, operational excellence, revenue growth, productivity and profitability.
As the senior leader of the branch, you will be responsible for translating national strategy into local execution, ensuring the branch consistently delivers outstanding commercial and operational outcomes. You will work closely with leaders, national managers and key stakeholders to optimise performance, lead transformational change and build a high-performing culture that delivers sustainable results.
This role is suited to a highly experienced operational leader who thrives in complex environments, enjoys balancing strategic thinking with operational execution, and can confidently lead large teams through growth, change and continuous improvement.
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide visible, inspiring leadership to a large and diverse operation, leading through managers and team leaders.
Own the overall branch performance, including safety, customer experience, operational delivery, revenue, costs, productivity and P&L outcomes.
Develop and execute the branch business plan, ensuring performance objectives are achieved and opportunities are capitalised on.
Lead a culture of accountability, engagement, performance and continuous improvement.
Drive operational excellence through effective planning, resource management, process optimisation and disciplined execution.
Utilise data, financial insights and operational metrics to identify opportunities, mitigate risks and inform strategic decisions.
Build strong partnerships with national functions and stakeholders to influence outcomes and achieve business objectives.
Lead organisational change initiatives, ensuring teams remain engaged, resilient and focused during periods of transformation.
Champion health, safety, compliance and employment relations practices, ensuring the highest standards are maintained across the operation.
Identify and develop future leaders, building capability and succession strength across the branch.
About You:
You are a commercially astute operational leader with a strong track record of leading large-scale teams and delivering measurable business results. You have successfully managed complex operations, held significant financial accountability and demonstrated the ability to influence outcomes at both an operational and strategic level.
You are known for your ability to build high-performing teams, drive accountability, navigate complexity and make sound decisions that balance customer outcomes, people leadership and commercial performance.
We're Looking for Someone Who Brings:
Significant senior leadership experience within a large operational, logistics, transport, tourism or service environment.
Proven success leading leaders and managing large, multi-functional teams through periods of growth and change.
Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience managing substantial operational budgets and P&L responsibility.
A track record of improving operational performance, productivity, customer experience and financial outcomes.
Experience developing and executing strategic and operational business plans.
Exceptional leadership capability, with the ability to influence, coach and hold leaders accountable for performance.
Strong change leadership experience, with the ability to simplify complexity and maintain momentum through ambiguity.
Sound employment relations, people management and workforce planning experience.
A passion for safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
