Discussion
Keep New Zealand's biggest stories on airEvery day, millions of New Zealanders turn to Stuff for the news that matters to them, wherever and however they want it. Behind that seamless experience sits a broadcast and network infrastructure that simply cannot fail, and that is where you come in.

We are looking for a Broadcast Engineering Manager to take technical ownership of our growing network and broadcast systems across the Stuff and ThreeNews brands. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on solving complex technical problems, leading projects from concept to commissioning, and building genuine partnerships with the vendors and stakeholders who help make it all happen.

What you will be doing
  • Coordinating upgrades, service changes and validation with vendors including VizRT, Avid, Grass Valley and Ross
  • Lead technical projects end to end from scoping and design through to delivery, testing and commissioning
  • Build strong vendor and stakeholder relationships resolving issues quickly and holding third parties to their service level commitments
  • Shape best practice developing documentation, engineering drawings and procedures that raise the bar across the team
  • Manage risk proactively spotting issues in the network environment before they become problems, and recommending sensible fixes
  • Champion modern platforms supporting the lifecycle of AWS-based broadcast technologies, SDN and cloud (IaaS/PaaS) solutions

What you will bring
  • Solid experience across broadcast systems and IT infrastructure, ideally including VizRT, Avid, Grass Valley or Ross
  • Working knowledge of AWS-based broadcast technologies and software-defined networking
  • Experience acting as technical lead on projects, from concept to delivery
  • A track record of managing vendor relationships within contracted service levels
  • Strong analytical skills and the confidence to communicate with stakeholders at every level
  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, Broadcast Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Why Stuff
You will be joining a team that keeps some of the country's most important journalism reliably on air and online, working with modern cloud and broadcast technologies rather than legacy systems for their own sake. Flexible working arrangements are available in line with company policy, and you will have real scope to shape how our broadcast infrastructure evolves.
