Performs professional budget and financial analysis in support of the Budget Division. Assists with preparation, development, monitoring, and administration of the City's annual operating and capital budgets. Reviews departmental budget requests, expenditures, revenues, transfers, financial reports, and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the Budget Department:
- Assists in the preparation, development, review, and administration of the City's annual operating and capital budgets.
- Reviews assigned departmental budgets, revenues, expenditures, fund balances, transfers, projections, and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Analyzes financial information and identifies discrepancies, unusual balances, trends, or other conditions requiring additional review or management attention.
- Prepares and maintains budget worksheets, departmental budget packets, financial schedules, reports, presentations, and supporting documentation.
- Reviews budget transfers, amendments, funding requests, and related financial transactions for accuracy, available funding, appropriate accounts, and compliance with established requirements.
- Monitors assigned funds and departmental budgets throughout the fiscal year and follows up with departments regarding variances, outstanding information, or required corrections.
- Communicates with assigned departments to obtain, verify, and clarify financial and budget information and provides guidance regarding Budget Division procedures.
- Reconciles financial information between budget documents, financial systems, departmental records, and other supporting sources.
- Assists with preparation and quality-control review of the proposed and adopted budget books, including financial schedules, departmental information, performance measures, and supporting materials.
- Assists with preparation for City Council meetings, budget workshops, public hearings, departmental presentations, and other budget-related meetings; research questions and prepares requested follow-up information.
- Tracks assigned projects and responsibilities to ensure work is completed accurately and within established deadlines; communicates delays, discrepancies, or other concerns to management in a timely manner.
- Conducts research and prepares concise financial analyses, summaries, recommendations, and supporting documentation for management review.
- Assists with purchasing, requisitions, invoices, and other administrative or financial activities assigned to the Budget Division.
- Assists with grant-related budget preparation, monitoring, reporting, reconciliation, or financial analysis as assigned.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited* college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- At least one (1) year of professional or progressively responsible experience in budgeting, accounting, financial analysis, fiscal administration, or a closely related field is preferred. Relevant governmental or public-sector budgeting experience is preferred but not required.
*Council of Higher Education Accreditation (C.H.E.A.)
Foreign Education:- Applicants who have completed education outside of the United States must submit a foreign credential evaluation completed by a professional credential evaluation agency that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE). The evaluation must verify the U.S. equivalency of the degree and identify the comparable U.S. degree level. Applicants are responsible for obtaining and submitting the required evaluation documentation.

- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
