Summary

Budget Analyst role managing financial planning, analysis, and reporting for the Department of the Interior, including budget execution, policy interpretation, and allocation processes.

You will serve as a Budget Analyst with Office of the Secretary of Interior. This position is located within the Department of the Interior, office of the Secretary, Assistant Secretary Policy Management & Budget, Budget administration, WASHINGTON,DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA Salary with locality pay will vary based on current duty station. GS-14 range (base pay): $143,913-$187,093. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Performs budgetary planning and analysis functions for assigned areas of responsibility. Interprets budget policy, coordinates and plans budget services, management of resources and forecasts budgetary trends and activities. Implements improvements to OS Budget processes and procedures in a collaborative manner with Activity staff and peers in other administrative functions. Advances improvements in budget decision making through the evaluation and analysis of financial information, including budget execution information. Prepares and conducts presentations to the OS Budget Officer and OS Activities on budget processes, procedures, systems, and other budgetary matters. Participates in the Department's funds allocation process including funds control procedures, apportionments, funds execution, internal controls and reporting for all types of funding including appropriated funds, mandatory funding, discretionary funding, reimbursable funding, working capital funding, franchise funds and collections of all types including receipts, fees, rents, and bonuses. Reviews, analyzes and, where appropriate, recommends revision of budget requests, supplemental budget requests, and reprogramming requests submitted by OS Activities, taking into account Administration and Departmental policies, legislative and fiscal constraints, and the needs of the various components of the Department. Formulates budget presentation strategies to defend requested funding including the development of supporting analytical data. Reviews or prepares budget estimates for submission to the Office of Management and Budget and Departmental budget exhibits, special analyses and budget justifications for inclusion in the President's budget submission process to the Congress. The position is suitable for telework and the incumbent may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
