The Opportunity:

The Property Management Team is seeking a highly motivated individual with a demonstrated commitment to excellence to join our team as a Building Manager in Saskatoon.

As an important part of the Property Management Branch, you will lead a service-oriented team responsible for providing service excellence by ensuring a safe and productive environment to our customers and clients.

Under the direction of the Directory of Property Management North, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivery and implementation of strategic plans cascading from Ministry to Branch level.
  • Leading the development of strong relationships with representatives of varieties of backgrounds including both public and private sectors.
  • Supervising, managing, and coaching teams with diverse skills and backgrounds.
  • Managing the operations of facilities for a variety of government ministries and agency programs.
  • Developing and managing building operating, maintenance, and capital budgets and plans.
  • Engaging government officials on provincial requirements, guidelines, and processes for tenant improvements.
  • Developing and managing the performance of contract and service agreements with private sector companies.
  • Monitoring lease performance requirements to ensure services provided by the landlord meet the terms of the contract and client’s needs.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through the completion and enrollment in the Real Property Administrative and/or Facilities Management designations. Possession of a valid Firemen’s Certificate is considered an asset for the position and may be obtained once hired.

Travel is required.

  • Executes and oversees the ministry’s strategic, operational, and branch plans across areas such as contract management, lease administration, building operations and preventative maintenance, energy management, capital projects, major maintenance, accommodation and space planning, and security services.
  • Leads and mentors a diverse team, including building operators, general trades, maintenance staff, and park personnel.
  • Engages with the public, external stakeholders, agencies, and industry representatives to address operational issues and establish partnerships.
  • Develops and manages building operations, maintenance, and capital budgets and plans, ensuring financial performance is regularly analyzed to inform short- and long-term strategies.
  • Oversees property acquisition and disposal, space portfolio analysis, and tenant improvements for government ministries, boards, commissions, and crown corporations.
  • Develops and manages contracts and service agreements with private sector companies to deliver building and maintenance services.
  • Monitors lease performance to ensure landlord services meet contractual obligations and client needs.
  • Researches, analyzes, and advises on current and future provincial space requirements.
  • Develops accommodation planning policies, space standards, and guidelines, and provides strategic planning with a focus on leasing strategies and transactions.

  • Knowledge and experience in procedures, techniques, and methods of building management and preventative maintenance.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management, capital management, and energy and inventory management.
  • Knowledge and experience with computer programs including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, and communications software such as email.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
