ABOUT THE ROLE

The Building Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily cleaning and facility service operations of an assigned customer location. This position provides day-to-day leadership to employees, coordinates work assignments, monitors service quality, supports staffing and operational needs, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with GSF and customer standards.

The Building Supervisor serves as the primary onsite leader for assigned employees and works closely with the Area Manager to address employee, customer, supply, equipment, and service-related needs. The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on leader who communicates effectively, builds positive working relationships, holds employees accountable, and leads by example.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of employees assigned to the facility, including work assignments, staffing coverage, and daily priorities.
• Monitor productivity and conduct routine inspections to ensure cleaning specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards are consistently met.
• Train, coach, and support employees while promoting teamwork, accountability, and safe work practices.
• Maintain a visible onsite presence and communicate professionally with employees, customers, and management regarding service needs and operational concerns.
• Monitor attendance, staffing, supplies, equipment, and other operational needs and communicate concerns to the Area Manager.
• Ensure employees follow company policies, customer requirements, safety procedures, proper chemical handling, and required PPE.
• Perform routine custodial duties and assist with special projects, facility setups, snow removal, or other operational needs as required.
• Monitor facility safety and security and ensure work areas, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained and secured.
• Complete required inspections, work orders, reports, and other operational documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous custodial, janitorial, commercial cleaning, or related experience required.
• Previous supervisory, team leadership, or lead experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel between assigned customer locations as needed.
• Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning products, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to successfully complete any required background screening.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, climb stairs, and perform repetitive movements.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and occasionally move heavier materials with assistance.
• Ability to push and pull cleaning carts, equipment, and supplies.
• Ability to safely climb steps, ladders, or approved equipment when required.
• Ability to safely use commercial cleaning products while following established safety procedures.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works primarily indoors at an assigned customer facility and requires frequent movement throughout the building to supervise employees, inspect work areas, and support daily operations. The employee may be exposed to dust, odors, cleaning chemicals, varying temperatures, wet or slippery surfaces, and other conditions associated with commercial cleaning and facility services.

Depending on the customer location and assignment, limited outdoor work may also be required for activities such as snow removal, waste disposal, or other facility-related responsibilities.
