ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Bulk Manager to oversee daily operations of our Bulk Foods Department at our La Mesa location. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for maintaining product quality, inventory, merchandising, and department cleanliness while providing excellent customer service.

The Bulk Manager works closely with store leadership and the Regional Bulk Buyer to maintain product availability, control shrink, and ensure the department operates efficiently and meets company standards.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Oversee daily department operations, including stocking, merchandising, product rotation, and cleanliness.
• Train, coach, and provide direction to department employees while reinforcing company policies and performance expectations.
• Maintain attractive, organized, and properly stocked bulk bins, displays, and department shelves.
• Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering, and maintain appropriate product quantities based on customer demand.
• Receive and inspect deliveries for quality, accuracy, and proper storage.
• Ensure products are properly labeled, priced, dated, and rotated according to company procedures.
• Monitor product freshness, shrink, waste, and inventory discrepancies and take appropriate corrective action.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, allergen-handling, and workplace safety procedures.
• Maintain clean and sanitary bulk bins, scoops, dispensers, equipment, and storage areas.
• Assist customers with product questions, selections, and special requests.
• Coordinate with the Regional Bulk Buyer and store management regarding product availability, merchandising, and department needs.
• Assist with department sales, inventory, and operational goals.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Previous grocery, retail, or bulk foods department experience preferred.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of inventory management, product rotation, merchandising, and shrink control.
• Familiarity with natural foods, grains, nuts, dried fruits, spices, and other bulk products is a plus.
• Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to train employees, assign responsibilities, and follow up on department expectations.
• Basic math and computer skills for inventory, ordering, pricing, and reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Valid California Food Handler Card or ability to obtain one within the required timeframe, if applicable to assigned duties.

SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY

Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an active, hands-on position requiring extended periods of standing and walking, frequent bending, reaching, twisting, squatting, grasping, pushing, and pulling.

Employees may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and use authorized department equipment, including carts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks. Work may involve exposure to refrigerated areas, food ingredients, dust, cleaning products, and wet or slippery surfaces.
