Responsibilities
- Develop and execute bunker fuel trading strategies to maximize profitability and market share across designated regions and customer segments.
- Identify and originate new trading opportunities through market intelligence, customer engagement, and supply optimization.
- Monitor global and regional bunker markets, supply-demand fundamentals, freight markets, refinery economics, geopolitical developments, and regulatory changes affecting marine fuels.
- Negotiate and execute physical bunker fuel transactions, including spot and term contracts, with shipowners, operators, suppliers, and brokers.
- Manage a portfolio of customers and suppliers while building and maintaining strong commercial relationships to drive business growth.
- Optimize trading margins through effective pricing, risk management, inventory management, and supply chain coordination.
- Oversee and coordinate the end-to-end trade lifecycle, including nominations, scheduling, deliveries, documentation, invoicing, and dispute resolution.
- Manage market, credit, operational, and counterparty risks in accordance with company policies and approved trading limits.
- Collaborate closely with operations, credit, finance, and compliance teams to ensure efficient and compliant trade execution.
- Analyze trading performance, market trends, and competitor activities, providing strategic recommendations to management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, sanctions requirements, and internal policies governing energy and bunker trading activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Business, Finance, Economics, Maritime Studies, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in bunker trading, marine fuel trading, physical oil trading, or a related energy trading role.
- Demonstrated track record of developing profitable customer portfolios and achieving commercial targets.
- Strong understanding of bunker markets, marine fuels, shipping operations, and global energy supply chains.
- Established network of shipowners, operators, brokers, bunker suppliers, and industry stakeholders preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and commercial acumen.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to assess market trends, pricing dynamics, and trading risks.
- Experience managing market, credit, and operational risks within a trading environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and trading/ERP platforms.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, international trading environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior management, customers, and counterparties.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented with a strong commercial mindset.
