The Opportunity
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Bus Driver to join our team at St James Catholic School. This temporary part-time role (7hrs/week during school term) supports the safe and efficient transport of students to and from Booleroo Centre. The position plays an important role in ensuring each journey is managed with care, professionalism and a strong commitment to student wellbeing.
Work schedule:
Monday: 7:30am – 9:00am and 3:15pm – 4:45pm (total 3 hours, excluding breaks)
Friday: 7:30am – 10:00am and 3:15pm – 4:45pm (total 4 hours, excluding breaks)
Key responsibilities include:
Operating the school bus safely and in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures to minimise risk
Transporting students to and from Booleroo Centre according to the scheduled service
Conducting passenger attendance checks and ensuring all students are accounted for at the completion of each run
Completing daily safety and maintenance checks and reporting any issues promptly
Maintaining the cleanliness and roadworthiness of the bus, including minor maintenance tasks
Promoting safe behaviour and communicating expectations to students while on board
About You
We are seeking someone who:
Holds a current unrestricted South Australian driver’s licence (only car licence required)
Demonstrates strong knowledge of road rules and safe driving practices
Is committed to child safety, wellbeing and contributing to a positive school environment
Holds a current Working with Children Check and required safeguarding certifications
Builds positive relationships with students, families and staff through clear communication
Is organised, reliable and able to work independently with minimal supervision
