BUS DRIVER

Under general supervision, operate the Shawnee Family YMCA passenger bus over designated school and/or field trip routes in accordance with time schedules; pick up and discharge students; provide safe and efficient transportation for students/staff.

Examples of Duties

• Drive the YMCA bus over designated routes in accordance with regulations and laws related to transportation in Oklahoma.
• Maintain bus in a safe operating condition through daily vehicle inspections and driver maintenance. This would include cleaning windows, mirrors, and bus interior; check and maintain oil and water levels; check brakes; check brake lights, signal lights, and other exterior lights; check all doors; report mechanical defects and malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Pick up and discharge students/staff at established schools and/or field trips; report incidents, which affect the safety of students.
• Maintain order and discipline among students on bus, following YMCA policies regarding disciplining and reporting any misconduct to Childcare Director.
• Administer first aid, as required and contact YMCA and appropriate authorities in event of serious emergency.
• Conduct student emergency bus evacuation drills as required.
• Utilize cell phone for emergency communication to YMCA.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
