About the role:
The Business Analysis Practice Lead provides centralised leadership for the BA community across TDD, setting standards and driving capability uplift to ensure business needs are consistently translated into clear, high-quality requirements and solution definitions. This role coaches and develops practitioners, lifts requirements quality across all delivery, and ensures BAs can effectively translate business demand into actionable scope as TDD transitions to a platform model, aiming to reduce scope creep. The role also supports BA career development and retention through structured pathways, mentoring, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain BA standards, templates, and frameworks, ensuring consistency in requirements of documentation, process modelling, and solution definition across all delivery.
- Coach and mentor BAs across platforms and portfolios, lifting capability in best-practice tools, techniques, and analysis discipline.
- Lead the BA community of practice, facilitating knowledge sharing, peer collaboration, and professional growth.
- Partner with delivery and platform leaders to assess BA capability gaps and shape development priorities.
- Drive consistent translation of business demand into clear, actionable scope.
- Support structured career pathways and mentoring initiatives that strengthen BA retention and engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong experience in business analysis within technology delivery, with demonstrated capability operating in a practice lead, coaching, or capability-uplift capacity
- Deep knowledge of BA frameworks and techniques, including BABOK, user stories, process modelling, and UML, with the judgement to apply the right technique to the right context.
- CBAP, CCBA, or equivalent certification highly regarded, alongside practical experience working within Agile, SAFe, or PRINCE2 environments.
- Experience defining and embedding BA standards, templates, and ways of working across multiple teams or a broader practice.
- Strong coaching and facilitation skills, with the ability to develop practitioners at varying experience levels and build a sense of community across the BA discipline.
- Experience designing or contributing to career pathways, mentoring structures, or capability frameworks that support practitioner growth and retention.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, able to build credibility with both business and technical audiences.
- A quality-and-consistency mindset - proactively identifying where analysis gaps drive scope creep or rework, and addressing root causes rather than symptoms.
