Business Analyst
Summary
Business analyst gathers and documents requirements, models processes, and guides IT projects for an international organization, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
- Maintain productive relationships with business and technology stakeholders.
- Facilitate discovery sessions and workshops to capture and validate high-level business requirements sufficient to evaluate potential solution options while maintaining a streamlined demand management process.
- Analyse current-state business processes and identify opportunities for simplification, standardisation, automation, and digital enablement, challenging low-value requirements that drive unnecessary complexity or implementation costs.
- Inform stakeholders of their obligations to adhere to technical standards, policies, and processes, including cybersecurity, hosting architecture, accessibility, data privacy, and branding requirements.
- Maintain awareness of available services and platforms and guide business demands to the appropriate service owners or, where appropriate, solution architects for solution option assessment.
- Assess business demands for business value, strategic alignment, risks, dependencies, complexity, and implementation considerations.
- Prepare demand assessment materials and recommendations to support governance and prioritisation processes.
- Lead requirements elicitation and business analysis activities for assigned projects, documenting business requirements at a level of detail sufficient to support solution design, development, and testing.
- Establish and maintain requirements traceability and manage requirement changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in solution design workshops and reviews, ensuring business requirements are accurately reflected in proposed solutions.
- Develop business test scenarios and acceptance criteria, support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and coordinate business user participation in testing activities.
- Support deployment planning and go-live readiness assessments to ensure successful handover to operations, service management, and support teams.
- Participate in post-implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and contribute to benefits realisation assessments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience performing business analysis activities across the full solution lifecycle, including requirements elicitation, analysis, solution design support, testing, implementation, and transition to operations.
- Expert knowledge of spoken and written English.
- Knowledge of French or another official UN language is desirable but not mandatory.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) , Microsoft 365 collaboration tools (Teams and SharePoint), Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Visio.
- Experience in business process analysis and modelling using BPMN, UML, or equivalent process modelling techniques.
- Demonstrated professional experience working with medium- to large-scale, cross-functional systems in an international context.
- Experience working within established project frameworks (e.g. PRINCE2 or PMI) and delivery approaches (Agile or Hybrid).
- Experience with major IT platforms such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office 365, and Microsoft Power Platform.
- Experience with citizen and fusion development approaches.
- Experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or orchestration of AI-powered workflows.
- Experience defining governance and prioritisation models for technology demand within an international organisation.
- Experience working with the United Nations or other international or multinational organisations.
- Strong business/client engagement skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with subject matter experts, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- Ability to manage requirements throughout their lifecycle, including elicitation, prioritisation, traceability, change control, and business acceptance.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to rapidly gather and consolidate information from multiple sources.
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce high-quality documentation.
- Ability to produce user stories, BPMN flows, UML diagrams, wireframes, report mock-ups, and other artefacts for validating requirements and informing solution design.
- Understanding of IT project management, change management, and system development lifecycle processes, with the ability to discuss application and data-oriented technical topics.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with international, multicultural, and multidisciplinary teams across different time zones.
- Highly organised with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Proactive, flexible, resourceful, and able to work independently.
- High level of competence with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Visio.
- Familiarity with administrative and/or health data management business domains.
Desirable:
- Professional qualification or foundation certification in Business Analysis methodologies (e.g. IIBA CCBA/CBAP, PMI-PBA).
- Advanced degree in Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
