Business Analyst – Data Lake
Summary
TECEZE is hiring a techno-functional Business Analyst in Portugal (CET) to help build a centralized enterprise data lake platform for agricultural commodity trading. Day to day, the BA elicits business/data requirements, assesses data quality with SQL, defines source-to-target mappings and pipeline specs, and liaises between business stakeholders, data engineers, and product owners.

Job Summary
We are seeking a techno-functional Business Analyst with exposure to Agricultural Commodity Trading companies to help build a strategic enterprise program focused on building a centralized, scalable data lake platform. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, finding practical ways to use data, and acting as a key liaison between business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and product owners to create high-value data products.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business & Data Requirements
Elicit, document, and manage business and data requirements and translate business needs into:
- Data models
- Data product requirements
- User stories and acceptance criteria
2. Data Analysis & Insights
Analyze data sources to assess:
- Data quality
- Completeness
- Requirement Fit
3. Data Lake & Product Enablement
Work with engineering teams on defining:
- Source-to-target mappings
- Data pipeline requirements
- Metadata definitions
4. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with business units, data engineers, architects, and governance teams
- Facilitate workshops to identify high-value data use cases and analytics needs
- Align stakeholders on priorities, scope, and expected outcomes
Required Qualifications
Must Have:
- Strong understanding of finance accounting & controlling, treasury, risk, and compliance teams operations in a trading company
- Ability to read and interpret accounting data
- Hands-on experience in Data Lake/Data Warehouse/report implementation projects
- Basic understanding of software development processes
- Proven ability to translate business requirements to technical requirements
- Hands-on experience in analyzing data using SQL
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
- Excellent stakeholder communication and facilitation
- Experience working with one back-office ERP system like SAP
Good to Have:
- Experience in report building in BI Platforms
- Knowledge of data governance tools
