Business Analyst

The role

  • Develops effective relationships with business units and ensures required business services are identified, developed, and supported.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for business support and liaises between IT and business units for system development and enhancement.
  • Evaluates new applications and initiatives against business requirements and recommends enhancements.
  • Prepares communications and business presentations on solutions and system enhancements.
  • Translates business requirements into detailed documentation and manages change requests.
  • Has sound knowledge of business services, processes, and systems, and understands current technology advances.
  • Works on the analysis phase of projects, often alone on small-scale projects.
  • Understands client needs and identifies, describes, and validates business solutions.
  • Documents business requirements for translation into functional and technical specifications.
  • Considers non-functional requirements and the business implications of technology applications.
  • Assists in determining which business requirements should be automated and how they integrate into the business.
  • Facilitates communication between business and IT communities and focuses on documentation for projects or changes.
  • May support the testing phases of projects and is usually an entry-level position in the Business Analysis function.
