Business Analyst II

The Business Analyst II supports the analysis, design, and optimization of business processes, engineering systems, and technology solutions within Vancouver Shipyards. This role bridges business needs and technology solutions, ensuring that process, system, data, and integration requirements are clearly defined and aligned with business objectives.

The Business Analyst II contributes to requirements management, system and process analysis, backlog management, testing, and implementation of digital solutions supporting shipbuilding and engineering operations.

Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What you’ll do

  • Elicit, analyze, validate, and document business, functional, non-functional, system, data, and integration requirements.
  • Analyze and document as-is and to-be business processes, system workflows, integrations, and data flows.
  • Develop and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, process models, and supporting documentation.
  • Support backlog management, including backlog refinement, prioritization, sprint planning, and requirements lifecycle management.
  • Work with Product Owners, engineering teams, solution architects, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure solution alignment.
  • Identify process and system gaps, risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement or automation.
  • Perform impact assessments across processes, applications, integrations, data, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain traceability between business needs, process models, requirements, backlog items, testing, and delivered solutions.
  • Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing, including test case development, defect tracking, validation, and stakeholder sign-off.
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder reviews, solution demonstrations, and decision-making discussions.
  • Support deployment readiness, system adoption, post-implementation stabilization, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Contribute to SOPs, training materials, system documentation, and knowledge transfer activities.


What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, or systems implementation/enhancements.
  • Experience working in Agile, or hybrid delivery environments.
  • Experience with ARIS, Azure DevOps, Jira, Visio, or equivalent enterprise tools is preferred.
  • Experience with PLM systems, particularly ARAS Innovator, is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with CAD and engineering systems, particularly CADMATIC, is considered a strong asset.
  • Certification in Business Analysis, or Lean Six Sigma is considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding of Business Analysis (Process and System Analysis practices).
  • Experience documenting and optimizing business processes and system workflows.
  • Experience with requirements management.
  • Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, backlog management, and SDLC frameworks.
  • Understanding of system integrations, data flows, and enterprise applications.
  • Hands-on experience with ARIS, Visio, Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture, Business Intelligence, and Change Management concepts.
  • Experience with engineering, manufacturing, shipbuilding, or industrial operations is considered an asset.

The estimated salary for this position is $84,600 - $103,400. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
