Business Analyst - Insurance P&C
Summary
Business Analyst translates insurance data needs into technical requirements, improves data quality, and builds reports/dashboards using SQL and visualization tools like Tableau.
- Ability to analyze and decompose problem statements, distilling these into clearly defined requirements.
- A confident and effective communicator, with experience and comfort addressing and collaborating with IT and business stakeholders and other sr/jr team members
- Ability to impart complex information in an easily digestible form, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Act as a bridge between the Business and Technology using technical and analytical skills to enhance or implement new Data Warehouse processes
- Identify ways to improve existing data quality
- Validate data, as needed, and test applications for business requirements, functionality, and usability
- Gathers, analyzes, defines, and documents requirements and communicates them to the technical & non-technical audience
- Define and deliver metrics, reports, dashboards, and data warehousing solutions for tracking and managing the business objectives
- Identify ways to incorporate automation in any deliverables
- Identify business challenges and initiate process improvement projects
- Facilitate and help modernize the data ingestion and consumption process
- Create Business flow/Data Flow diagrams
- Create source-to-target mappings
- Provide analyses for large datasets necessary for decisions using actionable insights
- Collaborate with various business groups to build scalable processes and metrics
- Responsible for carrying out complex analysis of datasets and conducting appropriate data validation
- Responsible for gathering and validating datasets across multiple data sources
- Responsible for identifying and implementing key insights
- Provide analytic results to business and functional leaders using visualizations to communicate data and metrics, including data maps and Tableau.
- Define KPIs to track key business processes.
Requirements
- Able to exercise independent judgment and take action on it
- Experience with writing complex SQL is a must
- Experience with Insurance Data Warehouse, data, and its processes
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
- Highly self-motivated and directed
- Understanding and working experience with cloud technologies is a plus (i.e., Azure, Snowflake, DBT)
- Ability to prioritize effectively and execute tasks
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Familiar with Jira, Confluence, and Agile Processes
