Business Analyst

Summary

Business Analyst for a banking API platform, documenting requirements, analyzing data flows, and bridging business needs with development teams in an Agile environment.

  • Document business and functional requirements, business rules, and User Stories and Epics Analyze business processes, functions and procedures across multiple business units.
  • Understand and document data requirements for banking products and Downstream impact.
  • Create documentation that outlines data lineage and a framework for data governance.
  • Assist data consumers, development teams by undertaking data research/analysis tasks and answering questions about the data.
  • Work with the developers to define/document existing application infrastructure / architecture. Assist with QA/Testing to review/refine test plans and create more detailed test cases.
  • Work with the project team and business to identify and resolve issues that arise during projects or as part of day to day business operations.
  • Proactively manage changes in scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans.
  • Lead all aspects of Business Requirements from elicitation to business process flow mapping to proposing new functionalities to users for optimizing their processes.
  • Conduct analysis, scope estimation and impact analysis working with cross-functional teams.
  • Create, maintain and groom the Product Backlog, writing User Stories defining acceptance criteria, thereby enabling new functionalities in BMO area.
  • Call out dependencies and risks to ensure smooth development.

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a large complex banking organization or major consulting firm acting in a business analyst or product owner capacity.
  • At least 5 years - Experienced in Agile Scrum or Kanban lifecycles.
  • Ability to document business and functional requirements, business rules, and User Stories and Epics of REST based Banking API Management platform.
  • Good communication, teamwork, and influencing skills; ability to communicate effectively with technology and key business representatives.
  • Strong analytical skills required; Including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Competent and experienced in technology environments (e.g., platforms, applications, databases, organizational structure and culture, teams involved in the successful completion of technology initiatives, etc.).
  • Detail oriented and organized. Able to multitask across several projects.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications: Visio, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Hungarian citizenship and fluent Hungarian/English language skills.

Skills Desired:

  • UNIX (Experience in any scripting language).
  • Experience using big data batch and streaming tools within the Hadoop Ecosystem such as HDFS, HIVE, Impala, Pig, Spark, Hadoop etc.
  • Working knowledge on Scala, Spark or Pyspark and love to work with open source technologies like Kafka, Storm, Flume, HDFS.
  • Prior knowledge of Kafka, MQ and other streaming platform would be useful.
  • Awareness of UI technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, Angular would be useful.
  • Knowledge of Financial market, Banking & Wealth Management.
  • Experience in collaborating with partners and stakeholders across geography & time zones.
  • Exposure to JIRA or other ALM tools to create a productive, high quality development environment. Prior experience working in the Financial Services Industry.
