Description

Business Analyst (Internal Systems & Data)

A permanent role owning business analysis across internal systems, process improvement and data projects, including a new data warehouse build, based in Belfast on a hybrid basis, paying £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience.

About the Company

Our client is an established technology business in a period of steady growth. As they've scaled, they've put real focus on the internal systems and processes that keep the business running. Their in-house technology team is now taking on a full programme of improvements, from system enhancements and integrations to automation and a major data project. This role has been created to bring dedicated analysis to that programme and to make sure changes are driven by what the business actually needs.

The Role

You'll be the link between the people who use the company's internal systems and the technical teams and suppliers who change them. You'll spend your time with different departments, learning how they work and where things are slowing them down. You'll then shape that into clear requirements and see the resulting changes through to rollout. The work covers a wide range of business applications, integrations and automation. A highlight is an upcoming project to bring data from several business systems into one central data warehouse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders across the business to understand their needs and turn them into practical technical solutions.
  • Review existing systems, processes and workflows to find ways to make them more efficient and effective.
  • Own internal technology projects from first requirements through to implementation and ongoing improvement.
  • Document business requirements, process flows, functional specifications and proposed solutions.
  • Work with internal technical teams and third-party suppliers on system enhancements, integrations and new implementations.
  • Plan and support system testing and user acceptance testing, making sure new functionality lands well with users.
  • Contribute to data and reporting work, including the new data warehouse that will bring together information from multiple systems.
  • Spot manual processes that could be automated and ways to improve how systems work together.

What You'll Need

  • Experience working on internal business systems, business applications and technology projects is essential, and the single most important thing we are looking for.
  • Around two to three years in a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst or similar role is essential.
  • A proven ability to gather requirements, engage stakeholders and turn business needs into clear functional requirements is essential.
  • A solid understanding of business processes, systems improvement and project delivery is essential.
  • Experience working with data, reporting or analytical tools, and confidence interpreting business information, is essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with both technical and non-technical colleagues are essential.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases or data analysis is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes or data integration projects is a strong advantage.
  • Exposure to Power BI, Excel or other reporting and analytical tools is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with Azure, Microsoft Fabric or Power Automate is desirable.
  • Knowledge of APIs, system integrations or workflow automation is desirable.

Why Apply?

  • You'll own meaningful projects that directly shape how a growing business operates.
  • You'll work on a new data warehouse build from the start.
  • The work is varied, covering business applications, integrations, automation and data.
  • You'll gain exposure to stakeholders in every department, with a visible influence on priorities.
  • This is a permanent role, working hybrid from Belfast.
  • The salary is £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience.
