Business Analyst, OHL
Summary
Business Analyst in Amazon India's OHL (Other Hardlines) Central Marketing Team analyzes e-commerce data using SQL, Excel, and BI tools to drive marketing decisions and optimize business metrics.
Key job responsibilities
• Support the marketing team in answering key questions using data — covering multiple metrics across the OHL portfolio
• Deep-dive into large datasets using SQL and Excel to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities
• Build and maintain reports and dashboards that enable the team to self-serve on routine business metrics
• Translate business questions from stakeholders into structured analysis requirements and deliver clean, actionable outputs
• Monitor existing data pipelines and ETL workflows; flag issues and escalate with context
• Work with BI, tech, and category partners to understand data availability and ensure metric accuracy
• Leverage AI tools (e.g., Amazon Q, generative AI assistants) to accelerate analysis, automate repetitive reporting tasks, and surface insights faster
• Present findings in written form (documents, decks) to internal stakeholders with clear, logical recommendations
Basic qualifications
- 1+ years of data analytics or automation experience
- 1+ years of capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis or similar experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of data pipelining and extraction using SQL
- Knowledge of SQL and Excel at a moderate or advanced level
- Experience with data mining tools like SQL, SAS, SPSS, or similar
- Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of business analyst, data analyst or an equivalent role experience
- Knowledge of SQL/Python/R, scripting, MS Excel, table joins, and aggregate analytical functions
- Experience defining and executing program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
- Experience in written and spoken English and an ability to compose grammatically correct, concise and accurate written responses
- • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field — Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or related
- • Moderate-to-advanced proficiency in MS Excel
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries across large datasets
- Knowledge of advanced skills in Excel as well as any data visualization tools like Tableau or similar BI tools (familiarity with Tableau preferred)
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Knowledge of online retail (e-commerce)
- • Experience with AWS analytical services (Redshift, EMR) or equivalent cloud data tools
- • Hands-on experience using AI/ML tools or large language models to augment analytical workflows — prompt engineering, AI-assisted reporting, or automated insight generation is a plus
- • Curiosity and initiative in exploring new AI-powered tools to improve team productivity
