Business Analyst – Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance (10–15 Years)
Experience: 10–15 Years
Domain: Property & Casualty Insurance / General Insurance
Role Type: Delivery-Focused | Client-Facing | Consulting
Role Overview
We are seeking a Business Analyst with strong Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain expertise to support large-scale transformation, modernization, and digital initiatives for insurers. The role is hands-on and execution-focused, with primary responsibility for requirements elicitation, process analysis, and stakeholder coordination, and secondary exposure to Agentic AI concepts and pre-sales / RFP support.
The ideal candidate is a solid BA practitioner who understands P&C insurance operations end-to-end, can work independently with business stakeholders, and can translate complex insurance requirements into clear inputs for technology and delivery teams. Experience working in the India General Insurance (P&C) market is mandatory, including knowledge of India-specific insurance products, business processes, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Core Business Analysis (Primary Focus)
- Perform requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation across P&C insurance processes, including Underwriting, Policy Administration, Endorsements, Renewals, Claims (FNOL to settlement), Billing, Rating, and Product Configuration.
- Develop and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Conduct workshops, interviews, and working sessions with underwriters, claims teams, operations users, and SMEs.
- Translate complex coverage logic, rating rules, deductibles, limits, and business rules into clear functional requirements.
- Support solution design discussions and validate that proposed solutions align with documented requirements.
- Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability across development, testing, and UAT.
- Support UAT execution, defect triage, and business sign-off from a functional perspective.
P&C Domain Contribution
- Strong working knowledge of P&C lines of business such as General Liability, Commercial Auto, Property, Workers’ Compensation, Umbrella/Excess, and Specialty Lines.
- Understanding of key P&C concepts including coverages (BI/PD), deductibles, limits, exclusions, endorsements, rating factors, and loss processing.
- Experience working with underwriters, claims adjusters, and operations teams.
- Awareness of regulatory and compliance considerations impacting P&C insurance.
- Mandatory experience in the India General Insurance market, with understanding of policy lifecycle, underwriting, claims management, distribution channels, and operational processes relevant to Indian insurers.
- Good understanding of IRDAI regulations, compliance requirements, product filing considerations, and market practices applicable to the Indian insurance industry.
Digital & Agentic AI Awareness (Supporting Role)
- Support business analysis activities for automation, AI, and Agentic AI-enabled use cases (e.g., underwriting triage, claims intake, document processing).
- Help translate AI-enabled ideas into business flows, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Understand the business impact of AI and automation on underwriting and claims workflows (no expectation to design AI models).
Pre-Sales & RFP Support (Limited / Assisted)
- Provide P&C domain and BA inputs into RFP responses and client proposals.
- Assist senior team members in preparing use cases, scope inputs, assumptions, and functional narratives.
- Participate in client discussions as a domain contributor, not as the primary solution owner.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10–15 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with strong exposure to Property & Casualty (P&C) / General Insurance.
- Mandatory experience working with insurers in the India General Insurance (P&C) market.
- Strong understanding of India-specific insurance products, underwriting, claims, policy administration, and distribution processes.
- Good knowledge of IRDAI regulations, compliance requirements, and market practices.
- Solid foundation in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management.
- Experience working on core insurance system implementations or modernization programs.
- Ability to work directly with business users, SMEs, and delivery teams.
- Familiarity with Agile and/or hybrid delivery models.
- Exposure to digital transformation, automation, or AI concepts from a business analysis perspective.
Nice to Have
- Experience with modern P&C platforms (policy, claims, billing, or rating systems).
- Exposure to RFPs, proposals, or pre-sales activities.
- Basic understanding of insurance data, reporting, or reconciliation used in underwriting or claims.
- Experience working with leading Indian General Insurance carriers and familiarity with India-specific insurance products and operating models.
Mandatory Requirement
- Hands-on experience in the India General Insurance (P&C) market is mandatory.
- Candidates without direct experience working with Indian insurers and IRDAI-regulated environments will not be considered.
