Description
Key responsibilities
Product ownership
Own the backlog for your area, and set priorities using client demand, regulatory deadlines, technical dependencies and commercial value.
Maintain the roadmap for your area and explain it to internal leadership, client-facing teams and, where needed, clients.
Decide whether a request becomes standard product, a configuration option, an integration, or something the client or a partner does outside the product.
Work with product management leadership on packaging and pricing inputs, where relevant.
Requirements and specifications
Collect and consolidate requirements from clients, implementation and support teams, user groups and regulatory sources.
Write user stories, functional specifications and acceptance criteria that engineers and testers can use without further explanation.
Define data requirements, message formats, interfaces and non-functional needs such as volumes, performance, audit trail and resilience.
Analyze gaps between the product and market practice or competing products.
Delivery and quality
Take part in sprint planning, refinement, reviews and release governance.
Review designs and demos with engineers before work is accepted.
Define test scenarios and regression coverage and accept or reject completed work against the acceptance criteria.
Track defects and escalations from clients to root cause and decide which become backlog items.
Support release notes, documentation and training material, and the handover to implementation and support teams.
Stakeholder management
Be the main contact between engineering, implementation, support, sales and clients for your area.
Run client sessions, such as user groups and advisory forums, and bring back evidence of real needs.
Present trade-offs and progress to senior stakeholders.
Required experience
5–15 years as a business analyst, product owner or functional consultant in post-trade or securities operations.
Experience on the vendor or product side, or on large implementations of packaged post-trade platforms, with a clear understanding of the difference between product and client-specific work.
Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle from execution to settlement and accounting, and the controls around it.
Experience writing user stories and specifications in agile delivery, working directly with engineers.
Data and technical fluency: read data models and message specifications, write basic SQL, understand how interfaces and APIs are described. Deep programming skills are not required.
Knowledge of Swift MT500 and MT300 series, and ISO 20022 messaging standards
Experience working with regulated clients’ requirements on audit, change control and resilience.
Desirable
Direct experience with Phase3, Torstone or a comparable packaged platform.
Experience with product analytics, client advisory groups or competitor analysis.
Knowledge of regulation affecting post-trade, such as settlement discipline, transaction reporting and shorter settlement cycles.
Explains complex processes in plain language to both operations experts and engineers.
Practical exposure to AI-assisted exception handling in operations, such as triaging breaks and failures on top of existing systems.
Recognized qualifications: MBA, CBAP, PSPO or CSPO, CFA or IMC, or similar.
