OVERVIEW:
Supports organizational objectives by identifying opportunities to improve business processes through the application and integration of software technology. Supports, maintains, and tests business applications; monitors data integrity; serves as a point of contact for employees and departments using the systems or their data; and translates division information requirements into plans and activities that automate and improve business processes.

- Reviews requests for system modifications, process improvements, and reporting needs; recommends solutions that meet documented functionality, interface, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinates and conducts business process reviews to document the current state, identify issues, develop and evaluate solutions, and apply improved processes within software systems.
- Manages application data integrity and understands how application data relates to other corporate systems.
- Develops expertise as a business-application super user and serves as a liaison between business users and IT staff; at the Senior level, serves as a subject-matter expert.
- Prepares, reviews, and maintains end-user and software-system documentation, reference materials, and support resources.
- Conducts or oversees initial system troubleshooting, recommends resolutions to end users, and escalates technical issues to the outsourced IT vendor when appropriate.
- Conducts software orientation workshops and seminars and coordinates employee development, training, and communication needs.
- Configures, updates, and edits system-administration tables to support process requirements, maintain data integrity, and meet user needs.
- Develops business cases for software releases and upgrades.
- Tests software modifications and upgrades and coordinates installation of new releases to end users, ensuring compatibility with corporate applications.
- Maintains effective working relationships and communicates with software end users, department managers, division vice presidents, IT partners, contractors, software vendors, customers, and the public.
- Continually develops professional knowledge of system operations, information-management software, computer science, and evolving technology practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
We’re open to hiring this position at either of two career levels. The level, title, and starting compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s education, relevant experience, skills, and overall qualifications.
Senior Business Applications Analyst:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Business, Information Technology or Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance, from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
- 5+ years of related experience and/or training are required, including business analysis, administration of client-server software applications, relational databases and table structures, end-user support and training, troubleshooting, project management, cost-benefit analysis, business process reviews, and workflow modeling.
Business Applications Analyst:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Business, Information Technology or Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
- 1+ year of related experience and/or training are required, including business analysis, administration of client-server software applications, relational databases and table structures, end-user support and training, troubleshooting, project management, cost-benefit analysis, business process reviews, and workflow modeling.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- Experience creating reports or dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, SQL Server Reporting Services, or similar tools is required.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or a comparable relational database platform is preferred.
- Practical SQL experience, including SELECT statements, INNER and LEFT JOINs, filtering, grouping, aggregate functions, subqueries, and data validation, is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of company policies and procedures and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and mathematical skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with general computer operation and Microsoft Office applications, relational databases, table structures, querying functionality, report writing, and software troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.
- Demonstrated business and technical writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to research and understand issues, identify and solve problems, and think analytically and logically.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology to meet business needs.
