Business Architect Expert

Job purpose

The Business Architect Expert drives digital transformation by translating strategic objectives into executable business architecture and use-case implementations. The role builds end-to-end business capability journeys for each digital use case, designs conceptual and logical business architecture in collaboration with business focal points, and manages the full requirements lifecycle (gathering, analysis, insights, design, sign-off, and delivery). The position ensures business processes and procedures are designed and mapped effectively, user journeys are optimized, and business value, outcomes, benefits, and financial gains are clearly articulated and realized.

Key activities for this role involve building and maintaining cloud architecture practice that includes:

• Architecture work: The Business Architect Expert will develop and maintain business architecture including design documents, current and target state architecture, business capability, reference models, principles, process and procedure diagrams, manuals, and templates to guide the design and implementation of digital transformation initiatives and use case implementation, ensuring consistency and best practices across the organization.
• Business analysis: Responsible for developing and managing the full lifecycle of business analysis including requirement management, stakeholder analysis and gap assessment, user story designs, and other techniques required to ensure that requirements are translated into actionable architecture.
• Financial management: This role involves building and maintaining financial models for digital transformation, optimizing costs, and ensuring value creation. The architect will also provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Strategic planning: Lead and contribute to the organization's strategic planning by aligning digital initiatives with business goals, identifying opportunities for innovation, and driving the long-term vision for digital strategy.
• Promoting and change management: Oversee change management processes to ensure smooth transitions to digital transformation, minimizing disruptions and ensuring stakeholder buy-in. Advocate for use case adoption within the organization, demonstrating the benefits of digital solutions on the business involving processes for both tangible and intangible benefits, and driving change management initiatives.

• Digital use case enablement and delivery
  • Define scope, objectives, and success criteria for each digital use case in alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Develop integrated delivery plans with clear milestones, dependencies, and quality gates.
  • Coordinate with product and project managers to align resources, timelines, and risk mitigation actions.
  • Track execution progress and manage issues, risks, and decisions through to resolution.
  • Validate delivered outcomes against agreed acceptance criteria and business readiness requirements.
• Business capability journey development
  • Map end-to-end capability journeys for each use case, including enabling people, process, data, and technology elements.
  • Identify capability gaps and define target-state capability enhancements and maturity progression.
  • Prioritize capability changes based on value, feasibility, risk, and dependency analysis.
  • Establish measurable outcomes and KPIs for capability performance and adoption.
  • Maintain a reusable capability catalog and ensure traceability from capabilities to use cases and benefits.
• Conceptual and logical business architecture design
  • Create conceptual business architecture views linking value streams, capabilities, processes, and information flows.
  • Produce logical architecture models detailing business components, roles, policies, and interactions.
  • Ensure architecture designs align with enterprise standards, principles, and target operating models.
  • Conduct design reviews and resolve design issues in partnership with business focal points and IT architects.
  • Maintain version-controlled architecture artifacts and ensure change impact is assessed and communicated.
• Architecture tools and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain business architecture (target and current) to help increase digital adoption and value creation within the enterprise architecture repository.
  • Design and maintain business landscape in both conceptual and logical representation showing optimization opportunities within the enterprise architecture repository.
  • Maintain enterprise architecture repository for business architecture including all elements based on the enterprise architecture meta-model structure.
  • Lead and maintain current state baseline within the target repository with all assigned activities such as data collection, verification, reporting, and analysis.
  • Document latest technology trends and digital services within a value stream.
  • Update enterprise architecture repository with business architecture according to the enterprise meta-model and ensure information management for all services and assets using enterprise architecture tools.
  • Update and maintain all architecture documentation required from digital strategy and reference architecture documentation.

Professional certifications

Minimum:

• TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification
• BPMN training or equivalent
• Business analysis certification (e.g., IIBA CBAP or PMI-PBA) or equivalent experience

Preferred:

• Certified ArchiMate 3.0
• SAFe or Agile certifications (e.g., SAFe Agilist, Scrum Master), Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)
• Value management and benefits realization credentials or demonstrable practice

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.

Preferred: Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Experience

• Strong knowledge of digital transformation and business capability
• Minimum of 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in business architecture
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
