Business Consultant (Part Time) - Small Business Development Center, Greenville SC

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides technical and professional services in a program area of a state agency.

JOB DUTIES:

10% Non Consulting: Operational Administration Support and Professional Development - Per the direction of the Greenville Area Manager and Region and Statewide Consortium standard operating procedures supports required administrative reporting and/or collaborative team engagement. Successfully obtains minimally required professional development credits per our consortium standards. Stays abreast of current market conditions per their consulting duties in support of clients.

10% Non Consulting: Seminars and Workshops - Per the direction of the Greenville Area Manager assists with the implementation of business seminars and or workshops related to client needs per our scope of work.

40% Consulting: Entrepreneurial Management Focused Guidance - Per the direction of the Greenville Area Manager assists clients by providing guidance and consultation to assigned clients regarding ongoing operational management tasks aligned with the functional aspects of the client's specific business model. Provides counsel regarding a variety of common functional components of small businesses including marketing and sales, operations, finance, human resources, and bookkeeping/accounting. Follows up as needed with clients to ensure ongoing client success.

40% Consulting: Entrepreneurial Ownership Focused Guidance - Per the direction of the Greenville Area Manager assists assigned clients by providing guidance and consultation on strategic positioning. Aids clients in the development of a sustainable competitive advantage. Assists with the development of individualized project feasibility assessments and consults regarding access to capital. Actively listens to client needs to cater consultation to individual small business plans

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience. Work experience 1+ years in business management, public administration, or administrative services.

Preferred Requirements:

MBA or Comparable in a Business or Related Field with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:

Essential Support - In the event of an emergency closure or modified operations, this position is necessary to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
