The Manufacturing Business Unit specializes in enterprise-scale manufacturing solutions that drive site- and network-level outcomes aligned to strategic objectives and KPIs. Our applications, data products, and advanced platform technologies - including AI and IoT-enable Digital Manufacturing at Scale.
We primarily serve enterprise clients across Human Pharma, Animal Health, and Consumer Goods industries.
Our Manufacturing Business Unit operates through three integrated functions:
- Strategy & Growth – Develops differentiated offerings and industry thought leadership.
- Business Consulting – Defines client-customized solutions and ensures sustained value realization.
- Engineering Delivery – Delivers solution architecture, development, deployment, and sustainment.
The Business Consulting function is hiring a Manager, Manufacturing Solutions Business Consultant to serve as a Product Owner and consulting lead across manufacturing digital initiatives.
Position Overview
The Manager acts as a Product Owner and consulting leader responsible for translating client business objectives into actionable digital product roadmaps and prioritized backlogs.
This role partners closely with Senior Managers and Account Leads to support client success while serving as the primary functional liaison to Engineering Delivery teams. The Manager ensures that solutions are clearly defined, value-driven, and executed efficiently within Agile delivery models.
This role requires strong manufacturing domain understanding, structured consulting skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and operational stakeholders.
You will be responsible for:
Product Ownership & Roadmap Execution
- Translate client business objectives into actionable digital product roadmaps aligned to manufacturing KPIs (OEE, throughput, quality, asset utilization, etc.).
- Define, prioritize, and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment to agreed scope and value targets.
- Decompose roadmap initiatives into epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Support development of phased delivery plans that balance speed-to-value with technical sustainability.
- Track delivery progress against roadmap milestones and proactively manage scope adjustments.
- Partner with Product Managers to refine long-term roadmap strategy.
Business-to-Technical Translation
- Serve as the day-to-day liaison between client stakeholders and internal architecture and engineering teams.
- Facilitate requirements workshops and working sessions with plant, quality, operations, and IT stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications that engineering teams can execute effectively.
- Clarify assumptions, constraints, and dependencies across workstreams.
- Ensure deliverables meet defined business acceptance criteria.
Agile Delivery Leadership
- Operate effectively within Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe, or hybrid models).
- Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning inputs, and feature prioritization.
- Participate actively in sprint reviews, demos, and retrospectives.
- Promote iterative delivery and incremental value realization.
- Balance Agile principles with manufacturing-specific requirements such as validation and change control.
- Maintain transparency through milestone tracking and clear documentation.
Consulting Excellence & Structured Problem Solving
- Apply structured, hypothesis-driven problem solving to ambiguous client challenges.
- Develop clear and concise client-ready materials, including roadmap decks, requirement summaries, and solution overviews.
- Communicate complex technical topics in business-relevant language.
- Support executive presentations prepared by leadership, contributing analysis and structured insights.
- Drive clarity and alignment across stakeholders through disciplined facilitation.
Support Account Management & Growth
- Support account leadership in identifying expansion opportunities within active engagements.
- Contribute to roadmap extensions and incremental business case development.
- Help prepare proposal materials and functional solution documentation.
- Maintain strong working relationships with client stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and continuity.
- Background in Manufacturing OT, Manufacturing IT, or Manufacturing Data Engineering.
- Elevate voice-of-customer feedback to leadership.
Contribute to Manufacturing Offering Development
- Provide insights to Strategy & Growth teams regarding recurring client needs and improvement areas.
- Contribute to development of reusable templates, accelerators, and backlog artifacts.
- Support development of credentials and case studies demonstrating client value realization.
- Collaborate with UX and technical teams on solution mock-ups or proof-of-concept artifacts.
Manufacturing Domain & Technology Acumen
- Demonstrate understanding of core manufacturing processes including production execution, quality, maintenance, and material traceability.
- Understand integration across MES, ERP, IoT platforms, and data ecosystems.
- Apply industry awareness across Human Pharma, Animal Health, and Consumer Goods environments.
What You Will Need:
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, digital manufacturing, or management/technology consulting.
- Experience operating as a Product Owner or functional lead within digital initiatives.
- Experience working within Agile delivery models.
- Strong communication and structured problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with both technical and operational stakeholders.
Nice to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Background in Manufacturing OT, Manufacturing IT, or Manufacturing Data Engineering.
- Prior consulting experience (technology or management consulting).
- Familiarity with industrial standards and enterprise architecture principles.
- Experience supporting MES, IoT, or cloud-based manufacturing data initiatives.
Exposure to enterprise-scale, multi-site manufacturing programs
