Discussion
Through SecureSafe, DSwiss operates a trusted Swiss infrastructure for the secure exchange, delivery and storage of confidential information. Banks, insurance companies, public institutions and other regulated organisations use our solutions when data protection, data sovereignty and security are business-critical. The platform is hosted in Switzerland, is ISO 27001-certified and is based on a zero-knowledge architecture. For 17 years, hundreds of companies and institutions have placed their trust in DSwiss.

We are looking for a hands-on, analytically strong Business Controller to join our Finance team in Lisbon and help shape how Finance operates at SecureSafe. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of our monthly and quarterly closing, deliver reliable financial reporting and analysis, and support business planning and decision-making.

This is not a role focused solely on preparing reports. We are looking for someone who understands accounting from the ground up, can confidently challenge financial figures and existing processes, and enjoys finding smarter ways of working.

You will work closely with colleagues across Switzerland and Portugal, help strengthen our financial processes, and actively use automation and modern AI tools to make Finance more efficient, accurate and valuable to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Own financial closing: Independently coordinate and execute monthly and quarterly closing activities, ensuring accurate, timely and audit-ready financial results.
  • Ensure accounting quality: Handle and review accruals, deferrals, revenue recognition, reconciliations, intercompany transactions and other accounting matters, working closely with external accounting partners.
  • Drive planning and analysis: Develop financial models, budgets, forecasts and variance analyses, identifying risks, opportunities and actions for the business.
  • Manage cash flow visibility: Prepare and analyse cash flow statements and forecasts, providing insights into liquidity and working capital.
  • Deliver meaningful reporting: Prepare financial reports, management dashboards and decision-ready analysis for the Head of Finance, Management Team and Board.
  • Act as a business partner: Collaborate with other teams to evaluate business cases, understand financial performance and support commercially sound decisions.
  • Challenge and improve processes: Identify unnecessary complexity, simplify financial workflows and drive improvements from idea through implementation.
  • Leverage technology: Use advanced Excel capabilities, AI tools and automation to reduce manual work, improve data quality and build more effective reporting processes.

Requirements

Must-Have
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in financial controlling, accounting or a combined finance role, ideally in a hands-on business environment.
  • English at C1 level or higher, with the ability to present financial insights clearly to non-finance audiences
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards, with proven experience independently managing monthly and quarterly closing processes.
  • Practical understanding of bookkeeping, including invoice postings, accruals, reconciliations, revenue recognition and cash flow statements.
  • Strong financial modelling, analytical and controlling skills, with the ability to translate numbers into meaningful business insights.
  • Advanced Excel skills and a genuine interest in leveraging AI, automation and modern tools to improve financial processes. Experience with SQL or Python is an advantage.
  • A pragmatic, structured and independent working style, with strong attention to detail and a clear sense of priorities.
  • The confidence to challenge established ways of working, question assumptions and take ownership of improvements rather than simply accepting the status quo.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and locations.
Nice to Have
  • German language skills
  • Experience in a hands-on environment such as an SME or scale-up
  • Prior exposure to SaaS business models and metrics
