Business Controller, Finance

About the role

Following internal movements, we are now looking for a Business Controller to join TGS and take ownership of financial planning, performance management and financial control for one of our business areas.

Working closely with business leaders, you will provide the financial insight and commercial challenge needed to make informed decisions about investment, resource allocation, budgets and business performance. This is a hands-on, business-facing role where you will combine financial expertise with commercial judgement to drive accountability, improve performance and support the achievement of business objectives.

What you will do

• You will lead budgeting and forecasting for your area, ensuring plans reflect key business drivers and commercial objectives.
• You will monitor financial performance, identify variances and risks, and work with business leaders to turn insights into action.
• You will provide accurate, timely reports and dashboards, support sound financial and commercial decisions, and maintain robust controls over revenue recognition and contractual obligations.
• You will support audits and government reporting requirements, while working closely with business leaders and Treasury to manage costs, improve profitability, and maintain effective cash flow and working capital.

• You will oversee revenue recognition and revenue share calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual terms and accounting requirements.
• You will review and interpret revenue contracts and commercial agreements, translating their terms into clear financial implications for the business, including obligations, risks, and entitlements.
• You will also act as a key point of contact for statutory and government audits, working directly with auditors and government officials to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
• In addition, you will partner closely with Business Development and Sales teams and engage directly with contractual counterparties, applying sound commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge, negotiate, and protect the business's financial interests.

Who you are

• You are an experienced commercial finance professional with strong financial acumen and the confidence to act as a trusted partner to senior business leaders.
• You will ideally hold an ACCA or ACA qualification.
• You combine strong analytical skills and attention to detail with sound commercial judgement, the ability to interpret complex financial and contractual information, and the confidence to communicate insights clearly, challenge constructively, and turn financial analysis into practical business decisions.
• You are proactive, collaborative, and comfortable taking ownership in a demanding, changing environment.

This position is a permanent full-time and office-based position in the TGS Weybridge Office (Great London Area, United Kingdom) reporting to the 'Director, Business Controlling Eastern Hemisphere'.
