Business Data Analyst - Superannuation Domain

Summary

Business Data Analyst (BI) on a multi-year data transformation programme for an Australian superannuation fund, translating business requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria while bridging stakeholders and technical teams using SQL and Tableau/Power BI.

Salary: $550 – $750 per day

About the role

An intermediate-level Business Data Analyst (Business Intelligence) role within a multi-year data transformation programme in a well-established Australian superannuation organisation.

You will sit between stakeholders requesting reports and the technical teams building them, translating requirements without losing detail in the process. This is a hands-on delivery team position, not a lead or principal-level role.

Key responsibilities

  • Sit in workshops and interviews, asking questions to clarify business needs

  • Turn business requirements into functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria that delivery teams can build from

  • Work with BI and Data Engineering teams to keep requirements grounded in technical reality

  • Run traceability between what was asked for, what was built, and what was tested

  • Support UAT, defect triage, and stakeholder demonstrations

About you

  • Circa 3+ years experience turning business needs into clear, documented requirements

  • Comfortable with SQL and relational data concepts to hold your own in technical conversations

  • Experience with Tableau or Power BI for visualisation, dashboards and reporting

  • Agile or hybrid delivery experience

  • Ability to manage a room full of senior stakeholders with competing opinions

  • Some exposure to conceptual/logical data modelling (bonus, not essential)
