Business Development Associate
About Fenix One
Fenix One is a global high-frequency trading firm operating across multiple asset classes and financial exchanges. We run proprietary, latency-critical infrastructure across colocation facilities worldwide, trading futures, equities, ETFs, FX, and cryptocurrencies with internally developed models and state-of-the-art technology. Our Singapore headquarters is home to a high-calibre team of 20–30 people.
We are a lean, high-ownership firm with no bureaucracy — every hire matters, every counterparty relationship matters, and every hour of runway matters. This role sits at the centre of that: you will be the connective tissue between Fenix One and the outside world — the people we hire, the exchanges and brokers we trade through, and the markets we operate in.
The Role
We're looking for someone exceptional in the making — sharp, outgoing, and relentlessly organised — to own a mix of business development, recruiting, and market intelligence. This is a generalist role by design: on any given week you might be sourcing and screening candidates, preparing briefing notes on a new market or exchange, or sitting in a meeting with a broker or counterparty representing Fenix One directly. You will be given real ownership quickly, and the range of what you own will grow with your judgement.
Key Responsibilities
• Own end-to-end recruiting coordination: sourcing, screening, scheduling, and candidate communication across technical and trading roles.
• Maintain and continuously improve the candidate pipeline — tracking status, next steps, and follow-ups so nothing falls through the cracks.
• Support business development efforts: identify and help build relationships with exchanges, brokers, and other counterparties.
• Represent Fenix One in meetings with exchanges, brokers, and counterparties, and help prepare materials and talking points ahead of them.
• Conduct market intelligence research — new markets, products, exchanges, and competitor activity — and summarise findings clearly for leadership.
• Build and maintain organised documentation: meeting notes, counterparty records, hiring pipelines, and decision logs.
• Coordinate logistics for external meetings, onboarding of new counterparties, and other operational touchpoints with the outside world.
• Take on ad-hoc projects across business development, recruiting, and operations as the firm's priorities shift.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline; strong academic performance.
• Highly organised, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple threads, follow up reliably, and keep nothing dropped.
• Genuinely outgoing — comfortable initiating contact, building rapport, and representing the firm in external meetings.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication, with the ability to summarise clearly for a busy audience.
• Strong proficiency with Excel and general comfort with business tools; not a technical role, but you should be comfortable around technical and trading colleagues.
• 0–2 years of work experience; fresh graduates are actively encouraged to apply.
• Pragmatic self-starter: you take initiative, ask good questions, and follow through without needing to be chased.
Highly Desirable
• Prior exposure to recruiting, business development, sales, or client-facing work — internship experience counts.
• Demonstrated interest in financial markets or trading.
• Experience organising events, competitions, or societies that required coordinating multiple people or external parties.
Who You Are
• You are outgoing and genuinely enjoy meeting new people — a room of strangers energises you, not drains you.
• You are highly organised by nature — details, follow-ups, and deadlines don't slip on your watch.
• You are direct, honest, and low-ego — you would rather ask a clarifying question than guess and get it wrong.
• You default to ownership: if something isn't moving, you chase it — you don't wait to be asked twice.
• You bring the drive yourself. We will teach you the rest — how to run a search, how to talk to a broker, how markets work — but the hunger to do it well has to be yours.
What We Offer
• Competitive graduate compensation with meaningful performance upside as you develop.
• Direct, hands-on training across recruiting, business development, and market intelligence — a genuine apprenticeship, not a graduate programme.
• Real ownership and external exposure from day one: you will be in the room for meetings that matter.
• A lean, high-trust environment with no bureaucracy: your work is visible and your impact is real.
• Competitive benefits including health coverage.
How to Apply
Submit a CV and a short cover note (one page maximum) describing a time you had to organise something complex involving multiple people or moving parts — what was the situation, how did you keep it on track, and what was the outcome? Applications without a cover note will not be progressed.
