Life Sciences. Strategic Relationships. Real Ownership.
Full-Time | Washington, DC | In-Person | $70,000–$90,000 + Performance-Based Bonus Opportunities
We're looking for a resourceful, highly organized business development professional with strong communication and project-management skills who can turn leadership priorities into completed work.
Hylton-Rodic Law (HRL) is a boutique intellectual property law firm serving innovators in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, universities, and the life sciences.
Our work is built on sophisticated legal expertise, trusted relationships, and a deep understanding of the industries we serve.
This isn't a traditional sales role or a position where you'll simply maintain calendars and trackers. You'll work directly with firm leadership to execute business development initiatives, strengthen professional relationships, coordinate outreach and events, and manage projects from direction through completion.
Leadership establishes business development strategy, priorities, positioning, and final approvals. You'll translate that direction into actionable plans, coordinate people and resources, anticipate obstacles, and deliver complete, polished work.
You don't need expertise in intellectual property law or biotechnology—just the curiosity, initiative, and resourcefulness to learn.
What You'll Do
- Execute business development initiatives, translating leadership priorities into project plans, timelines, milestones, responsibilities, and deliverables.
- Own projects from direction through completion, identifying required resources, managing dependencies, coordinating contributors, resolving obstacles, and ensuring follow-through.
- Research growth opportunities, including prospective clients, industry developments, partnerships, speaking engagements, conferences, and professional networks; present practical recommendations to leadership.
- Support client and prospect relationships, coordinating outreach, meetings, professional correspondence, and ongoing engagement.
- Manage CRM systems and reporting, including contact records, pipeline tracking, segmentation, activity reporting, and actionable insights.
- Coordinate conferences, webinars, and events, managing registration, communications, logistics, promotional materials, approvals, technical preparation, and post-event follow-up.
- Coordinate proposals and RFP opportunities, researching requirements, tracking deadlines, organizing contributors, and preparing submissions for leadership review.
- Develop professional communications, including outreach correspondence, executive briefings, presentations, talking points, and relationship-building materials.
- Collaborate with Marketing to translate leadership-approved priorities into newsletters, thought leadership, LinkedIn campaigns, and other communications, ensuring polished deliverables are presented for approval.
- Maintain proactive project oversight, tracking outstanding actions, identifying risks, communicating progress, and ensuring initiatives are completed.
You'll receive direction and feedback, but we'll expect you to organize execution independently, anticipate next steps, and keep work moving without constant supervision.
