Business Development Engineer

Columbia Fire, LLC seeks a Business Development Engineer in Seattle, WA.

Job duties: Identify and develop business opportunities for fire sprinkler installation and repair services, with a focus on building and maintaining the company's Mandarin-speaking customer base. Perform site walks and takeoffs and produce conceptual fire sprinkler layouts. Collaborate with credentialed designers and estimators to deliver accurate project scopes, budgets, and proposals. Build relationships with international investors and developers, including those who speak Mandarin. Support early design-assist project kickoffs and act as the Mandarin-speaking point of contact during project execution. Represent the company at client meetings, industry functions, and networking events to grow long-term partnerships.

Requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or as Fire Protection Designer or closely related occupation. The required experience must include:

(i) 2 years of experience using AutoDesk and AutoCAD for fire sprinkler layout design, hydraulic calculations, and coordination drawings;

(ii) 2 years of experience liaising with customers on fire sprinkler installation and repair projects;

(iii) 1 year of experience using HubSpot or other customer relationship management software; and

(vi) 1 year of experience coordinating fire sprinkler installation and repair projects for government or public-sector customers.


The above-required experience may have been gained concurrently.

Requires Water-Based Systems Layout Level II Certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies.

Must have near native fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Mandarin in a business setting.
