Business Development Executive — Drone & Geospatial Services
Posted Updated
Description
The ideal candidate will spend most of every working week in
front of potential clients eg ministries, utilities, parastatals and local government, and mining, energy,
construction, agriculture and industrial operators as well as finding where drone
survey, inspection and monitoring can solve a real problem, building the
relationships that let the company engage before budgets and tenders are set, and
cultivating each lead until it is a qualified opportunity ready to be quoted
and closed.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet potential
clients every working week to an agreed standard, in person wherever possible, following a weekly visit plan
built from the target lists.
- Build and keep current the target lists for both segments. For each
priority account, find out who uses, who specifies, who holds the budget and who buys as well as when, including the July–June public budget cycle.
- Follow up every lead
systematically and qualify it against agreed criteria: a real need, a budget or route to one, the decision-maker and the timing. Move forward only the
leads that qualify, and record honestly the ones that do not.
- Arrange and attend demonstrations and site visits with flight operations. Represent the company at
industry associations, chambers, conferences and sector events.
- Collect the information the quotation team needs on site, scope, deliverables and timing as well as hand over a complete brief. Remain the day-to-day client contact while the
opportunity is quoted and closed. Refer clients who want
to buy and operate their own drones to the
drone and payload sales specialist.
- Watch the NeST e-procurement system and client procurement notices for the target accounts; flag
planned procurements early, and alert the bid team to supplier registrations or
pre-qualifications that are needed.
- Log every contact and
next step in the CRM on the day; report activity weekly; and bring back what clients say about their needs, competitors and prices.

the main part of the job
- Evidence of generating their own leads and developing them into qualified opportunities or sales and not only handling inbound enquiries.

people from site technicians to senior managers, in public institutions and in companies.
